Queens. Warriors. Witches. Revolutionaries. History is full of sisters making their mark.

Meet incredible women in this nonfiction audiobook for kids, from Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret to tennis superstars Venus and Serena Williams. Authors (and sisters!) Olivia Meikle and Katie Nelson have scoured history for jaw-dropping stories of amazing siblings, including:

• Why Egyptian ruler Cleopatra went to war against her younger sister Arsinoë
• How Native American sisters Maria and Marjorie Tallchief became America’s first star ballerinas
• What made samurai sisters Nakano Takeko and Nakano Yuko take on an entire army

Through the stories of the sisters, listeners will go on a whirlwind tour of women’s history, from the courts of Imperial China to the French Revolution. And you’ll discover that stories about sisters aren’t anything new—they can be traced back to ancient tales, from Greek goddesses to Maya mythology.

Critic reviews

"[A] fascinating middle-grade historical retrospective of 33 extraordinary sororal bonds... The authors astutely draw parallels to pivotal global events--the slave trade, the Industrial Revolution, the Age of Enlightenment and World War II—throughout the text, which is visually supplemented with eye-catching illustrations."—Shelf Awareness

Great introduction to women from around the world!

As a longtime listener to the author's podcast (What's Her Name), I only gave the performance 4 stars since the pronunciation of the names were different from what the authors used in their episodes. But it was very refreshing to have the history of the world told with women at the focus rather than the typical format.

I particularly enjoyed learning about Genghis Khan's 4 daughters and the Tallchief sisters. My to-read list keeps growing with each new woman I learn about in this book and from their podcast episodes!
