Publisher's summary

Beyond the sea lies ancient, Celtic Ireland, a proud land where tradition is everything and travel through the wild can mean slavery or death. There the Roman evangelist, Saint Patrick, carries a message of love, hope, and salvation - a message that threatens kingdoms, rulers, and powerful druid advisors. When Taran mac Teague joins the fight, he promises his beloved Laurna he’ll return. But will he? Can he? Or will the realm of spiritual darkness prove too strong?

As the druids seek to remain in power and prevent the pair from changing their ancient, Celtic ways, will Taran find the price of spiritual truth and liberty more than his heart can bear?

Monotone telling of an amazing story.

I have long wanted to experience St. Patrick’s journey and mission in such a way. I was at first frustrated by the monotone voice of our narrator. But I accustomed myself and enjoyed the story. It seemed so similar to what we gave in society today. We have our own druids who lead us to destruction if we don’t heed the voice of God and follow His path. I recommend it and I hope to remind myself when facing daily challenges to my faith.

Bonfire of Beltane

Great book. Listened to it three times already. Hear something new every time. Love the voice of Mathias Holt. I’ve listened to two of his books. Different voices every time. Looking forward to more of the books he reads. Big huge fan.

Wonderful narration!

I've always loved Saint Patrick, so was very excited to find this novel about him. I read the book first, then later got the Audible version. The narrator, Mathias Holt, is absolutely incredible! He really brought the story alive with his amazing Irish accent and depth of character interpretation. He's an extremely talented narrator! I can't wait to hear more books read by him. If you have an interest in Saint Patrick or Irish history, you will immensely enjoy this audiobook. One caution: there are a few references to sex, so be aware of that if you plan to have your children listen to this. I'm glad I previewed it first. Apart from that, this is an amazing audiobook.

Not for Me

I found this book weak on its theology and also showed little understanding of Celtic spirituality. I thought the narrator had a poor grasp on an Irish accent...so poor that I couldn't finish listening to it.
