Publisher's Summary

Winner of the Independent Book Awards Bronze Medal, The Bloodline War is the first sensational novel in the “wildly successful” (Readers’ Favorite) Community series....

With more than a thousand four- and five-star reviews on Goodreads!

The night just keeps getting more bizarre....

The murder is oddly bloodless. Called in to consult on the crime scene, Dr. Toni Parthen has no time to puzzle out that peculiarity. A black-clad man who seems more brutal creature than human being stalks out of the night and kidnaps her.

Imprisoned in a mysterious underground town, Toni is thrust into a realm beyond her understanding. These strange townspeople want her to do the unthinkable—breed with one of the men. No, thank you.

She incites a mutiny among the other abductees. But it’s no easy task to outwit the tight-lipped head of security, especially since Big, Dark, and Murderous is as emotionally scarred as she is...and she’s falling for the pain in the butt.

The leader of an elite squad of vampire warriors, Jacken Brun has an unholy side that boils just below the surface. He’s barely able to keep his sacred vow and push away the smart, sexy doctor he’s so inexplicably drawn to. Something about her is eerily different....

When it turns out her bloodlines hold the key to unimaginable power, two factions of malicious demons go to war over her, and Jacken will have to dig deep into his heart to find more than his skills as a warrior to save her....

Loved this book and Jeffrey's voice wow.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Bloodline War to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version but I would assume it is as good as the audiobook

What other book might you compare The Bloodline War to and why?

JR Wards Black Dagger Brotherhood or Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter novels. They have a similar format. A community of "fanged people". Women, sometimes men in peril from their enemies and most importantly love.

What does Jeffrey Kafer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings the Characters to life, his voice is pure sex! (Wasn't so fond of Kimberly's accent but then I know people who talk like that in real life, annoying but natural.)

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

As with many good books it made me both laugh and cry. Particularly the scene with Kimberly (I think) talking to her mate about suffering abuse.

Any additional comments?

I love this book and am now purchasing the series to read them all, Tracy has a unique voice in what could be argued as an overpopulated genre. Her characters are natural and her plot believable and not just the same old same old. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Love this series!!!

I read this series first and since its been a while waiting for the fourth book, was offered a free audible copy to listen and review. The story is still amazing! I truly love the characters and plot lines. As far as the narrator, it took a few mins to get used to him. At first I thought he sounded like a reporter from the 50's the way he reads...kind of quick and sometimes a little low. I had to adjust my volume up & down. But He does the accents well and the female parts pretty good too. Overall, he doesn't Eva good job. Definitely pick this up! You'll quickly fall in love with this series like I did!

Loved it..

Wow! This is the most unusual vampire book I’ve ever read. They actually live underground and are called the Varcolac, that’s also the name of the caves where they live, and certain vampires have certain abilities. It’s a very different kind of vamp book.

I did like Jacken and Toni. As usual in romance books they did argue, all the while fighting their attraction. AND, to top it off, Jacken was the virgin, and had pledged a promise of celibacy to the head honcho, Roth and the doctor, Jess, because of him being half vamp and half demon. AND he was unable to EVER have sex with anyone he wasn’t bonded to. Jacken and Toni’s first time at sex was pretty funny. There were also a few LOL moments throughout the book. Overall, this was an exciting book and a really great romance.

I did really like the secondary characters: Beth and Arc, Kimberly and Sedge, Hannah and Willen, Ellen and Pedrr, Thomal, and Alex, Toni’s brother. There were some strange names going on here. Then there were the awful demons the Om Rau, with the man in charge being over 7 feet tall. And the way he was described he had to be really gross. Actually, all the demons from Otarat sounded pretty disgusting.

There was some explicit sex in this book, as well as swearing and the F-bomb was dropped 90 times. I don’t mind either one but I know a lot of you do, so you HAVE been warned.

As to the narration: Jeffery Kafer was good but I do wish he’d practice his female voices. They are still a little masculine. Actually, he does have a really sexy voice so that helps to overlook the females being a little un-feminine.

Hmmm....

Would you try another book from Tracy Tappan and/or Jeffrey Kafer?

yes, I would try another book by TT but it wont be the bloodline series....

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

better 'flow' form one scene to the next...I felt like I had to 'catch up' a lot....

Nice!! Can't Wait for Book 2!!

I really enjoyed this. It surprised me. I had difficulty with the kidnapping part, and the women not standing up for themselves at first. That's always a difficult subject, especially in what's to be a romance novel, but I like how the author did address that and I found myself more and more interested in these characters. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. I enjoyed the narrator. He does have a very deep voice, but I had no problems with his voices for men or women. The only time I didn't particularly care for it was during the "British accent" some characters had, but it didn't distract enough to be a big problem. I give this one 4 stars overall. A nice new take on vampires that you can sink your teeth into.
