Great narrator, average story

I just did a long review of this book at Goodreads, and I don't know how to copy and paste on a mobile device, so please check out the reviews there. There are quite a few 5-star ratings, but I couldn't agree. The POV is 1st person singular. which isn't a bad thing in this genre. I see a lot of books written in that viewpoint done well. However, this one is pretty passive-voice, with more tell than show, and dialogue isn't as abundant as it could be to show who the people are. There are interruptions in the action to remind the reader of information already provided.
The plot is a little thin, but I think the purpose of this book was to introduce conflicts and character backstory. If you plan on listening to this series (and it really is a series, needing to be done in order), this book gives a good foundation.

Enjoyable and worth the listen!

This was so good that I went through the series in one week. I need to buy more credits!

excellent story

interesting plot, nice slight twist at the end. characters were all interesting. I like the take on the supernatural world the author has.
Why four stars then? I... it's hard to put my finger on it, but something on the style of prose rubbed me a little wrong. sometimes the short sentences one after another made things feel... clipped? it's hard to articulate, but I think most people will enjoy regardless so I recommend.

WHENS THE MOVIE?!?!?!

I loved this book. I wish there was a movie for it. The whole series is worth both the read and listen. Lora does great with her impressions!

not my favorite but still really good

this is slow going. it's a series so it is somewhat expected. I really enjoyed the voice portion. it did hook me by about the 1/2 way Mark though.

Fun new world

Patricia Briggs writes great believable worlds and characters you want to be friends with! Lorelei King reads many of the series I follow and does it fantastically. can't wait for the next Audible books!

Excellent start to an amazing series

The Mercy Thompson series is one of the BEST Urban Fantasy Series out there. This first volume is a classic masterpiece, the world building is masterful and it introduces many supernatural & powerful creatures - Fae, Shapeshifters, Vampires, Werewolves, Witches and other magic users. This book packs a powerful punch, part action, part mystery, part romance. There is very little downtime in the story, it’s faced paced which keeps our attention. An excellent start to a very entertaining series. Moon Called is one of my favorite books in the series.

Wow, that was fun!

This was my first Patricia Briggs book and I completely enjoyed it! I hope as I continue to read the rest of the series that she flushes out even more of the characters. Here I go again with book two.
