Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Story
My name is Kazimir Wolfe. People call me "Kaz", except they don’t. I never use my real name; it’s too dangerous, for me and for anyone I meet. I’m on the run from the law, who think I killed my aunt, and from whoever did kill her, because they want to finish the job. So, I move around a lot, working construction or whatever job I can find. It’s a lonely life. I don’t let anyone get close...people who get close to me end up dead. Why? I’m a wizard. The world’s only wizard, as far as I know.

When Van Tudor returns to his childhood home, he inherits more than the family farm. His grandfather used to tell him fantastic stories of spacemen and monsters, princesses and galactic knights. Little did Van realize, the old man's tales were more than fiction; they were real. Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

I keep reading the next book in this series and then the next because the story is a good idea. However, it is so poorly written I end up rolling my eyes the whole way through and thinking, “get to the point!” The story is told in twice as many words as is needed. The author describes the characters’ motivations in such detail it detracts from moving the story along. I’ve already purchased book 8, but I think it will be my last book by this author.

Craig A. Falconer Rocks!
Love it! even though he's a writer he seems to know what I like and should get awards concerning Science Fiction! But, I'm just a ready who is having fun playing with wood working to make handmade guitars and while the hours away by listening to books and not letting dyslexia stop me in anyway shape or form. It's nice to know I'm not alone! See ya on the other flip side of Not Alone.

Everyone's favorite Colorado family is back !!!!
Everyone's favorite Colorado family is back and better than ever.
Piper is a teenage now and with age his powers are stronger than anyone could have imagine. She really is a formidable human being.
New characters introduced on this book are great and I'm so glad to see all of our old friends back again. Dan and Emma are as usual right in the middle of everything, as usual
The cliffhanger at the end...wow! cant wait for the next book which I'm sure is going to be great.
As always James Patrick Conan performance is superb! I love his Scottish accents (I had to re listen to those parts to understand what they were saying and everything hahahaha). After NA6 I was wondering if there was ever a NA/ what would Piper voice sound like. It did not disappoint.

A step up on the previous book
I would have rated the performance higher if not for the appalling Welsh accent! It's a difficult accent to master but as such a key character featured throughout the book, James Chronin could have put more research and practice into it.
Listen to a few YouTube videos on welsh accents before the next book please James. Other than that, you do a masterful job.

Fans of series wont be disappointed
Lots of good twists. Slightly weaker than previous books but when youre already attached to characters then you get past that quickly.
One problem... the accents the narrator tries.
Throughout the series they are awful.
Italian sounds like a bad Spanish.
"Refined" British sounds like a pretentious supervillain with an almost Boston drawl.
"Northern" British (character is from near Sheffield) sounds like a London cockney nutjob.
Scottish is... barely passable if stereotypical and with incorrect stresses, making it sound forced and confused.
The coup de grace... Welsh... the guy has clearly never ever heard a Welsh accent and assumed it sounds... well... like nothing i can really describe other than confused.
I cackled laughing when later in the book it mentions an idiosyncrasy of the welsh accent.
Seriously... if youre frankly rubbish at non USA regional accents, just don't bother!
However... i can get past all that because I'm not a rabid nationalist with a mental age of 6 years.
So i enjoyed the story none the less for the parade of silly voices. 4.5/5

Accents
Absolute belly laughs from the Scottish and particularly the Welsh accents, absolutely obscure mixture of scot, asian, cockney and nothing Welsh whatsoever. James Cronin really should have put the effort in and researched this. Story was great though, love this series.

Did anything actually happen?
I gave the highest rating to book 6 in this series. I've had a really hard journey with this one. I'm not sure anything besides the headache happens to anyone in the entire book. I think the author has resurrected something that had already reached a finale.

Love this series so much.
These books are consistent in their writing, they have issues but I have been hooked by them. Start of another set of trilogies having moved on several years. The characters have always been my favourite part of this series and seeing them move on with this time jump is great. They are the same people but have mellowed or grown as people, their progression is very real. The new character, Piper, isn't some annoying teen genius, she fits into the story and gives a new dynamic. I say this every time but the narrator does an amazing job giving each character a voice. Slight issues with the Welsh and Orkney accents.

great start to the next trilogy! i need book 8 NOW
Craig sure knows how to write compelling stories and has a spooky ability to write his diverse and broad range of characters with great authenticity!
i love the Not Alone series, and am always glad when Craig decides to expand into another trilogy for us. the only downside is that book 8 is not out yet!
one note for Craig: being the book was set in Scotland, i was sad you didn't write in a minor male Scottish character (a journalist perhaps, like you did with ths Austalian journo) so you could voice him, with your amazing accent! next time maybe... i can only hope ♡
