Lincoln Reeves may be a pro golfer and revered swing coach, but when I met him, he was just one more person telling me I wasn’t good enough. So, I did what any girl in my position would do. I told him to get lost and take his arrogant, annoying smirk with him.

I never expected to see him again. I certainly didn’t expect to run into him that same night after one too many tequila shots. Turns out that he’s kind of a big deal. Okay, fine, a really big deal. In fact, he might be the one person that can take my game to the next level.

Convincing him to help will be difficult. Not throwing my club at his handsome face when he makes me work harder than I thought humanly possible will be excruciating. But not falling for him will be the hardest thing of all.

I wasn’t sure what to expect listening to a book about a girl on her college golf team and a grumpy swing coach but holy smokes I was blown away. Going back to Valley U we meet Kiera who is on the golf team and Lincoln who we met in The Fake. Lincoln is so grumpy and somehow Kiera breaks down his barriers even barriers he didn’t realize she’d demolished. Kiera is such a confident and feisty junior in college and on the golf team. Her golf coach doesn’t want to help her so enter Lincoln who as owner of Reeves Sports ends up with Kiera as a client to up her golf game. As it turns out the swing coach and the golfer click more than as coach and client. This book can be read as a stand-alone but there are some people from Valley U mentioned or making appearances in this book.
Erin Mallon and Jacob Morgan brought this book to life in the best way!

Sweet Spot (A College Sports Romance) is a character-driven love story told in dual pov. A bit of a age gap, enemies to lovers romance with a coach/ student relationship. I love how this is surrounded around golf as I haven't heard/read any sports romance involving golf. I found the characters engaging and likeable. I loved Lincoln, his grandmother is a funster. I loved the golf references and found the powwow interesting. A entertaining listen with cute banter between Kiera and Lincoln.

Narrators Erin Mallon, Jacob Morgan were fun to listen to. I love Jacob Morgan's inflection and Erin Mallon is always great with romantic comedy. Her spunkiness is brought out in the character of Keira. Absolutely loved the narration.

If you’d told me that the only thing getting me through my reading slump this year would be low-angst, standalone-but-interconnected college romances, I don’t know that I would’ve believed you. But thank God for Rebecca Jenshak, because at this point, Valley U books are basically my lifeline.

Are these epic, high-drama romances? No. And honestly? That’s the point. These books are pure, comfort reads. They’re light but never dull, fun without being over-the-top, and always deliver exactly what I need—strong, capable heroines, heroes who know how to match their energy, and just enough frustration with certain side characters to keep things interesting.

Sweet Spot follows Kiera, a talented golfer at Valley U whose confidence takes a hit after a rough tournament. Her coach—who is unbelievably insufferable—uses it as an excuse to bench her indefinitely, offering zero guidance, zero feedback, and absolutely no support in getting back on track. So when the men’s team gets a fancy new swing coach—former pro golfer Lincoln—and her coach still refuses to bring in extra training for the women, Kiera is rightfully pissed. But when she has a run-in with Lincoln and he gives her some impromptu advice, she realizes two things: 1) he actually knows what he’s talking about, and 2) she needs his help.

She’s not exactly thrilled about having to seek outside help—because, realistically, she shouldn’t have to. Her college coach should be providing her the guidance and training she needs, but thanks to his complete lack of professionalism, she’s left to figure it out on her own. So when Lincoln, a former golf pro, offers some unsolicited but solid advice, she sees an opportunity. He knows his stuff, and if her own coach won’t do his job, she’s not above finding another way.

Lincoln, on the other hand, is the one hesitating. He’s recently divorced, years older, and fully aware that coaching a college golfer—especially one as determined and talented as Kiera—comes with complications. But after one night of drunken, persistent begging (on her part, not his), he finally agrees to coach her privately… if she commits to training through it despite the hangover. Naturally, she does—because if there’s one thing about Kiera, it’s that she refuses to let obstacles (or a headache) slow her down.

While their dynamic has hints of enemies-to-lovers, it’s really more of a slow-burn mentorship-turned-romance. The chemistry? Immediate. The respect? Mutual. The fondness? Practically inevitable. And while her actual coach continues to be the absolute worst, Kiera only gets stronger as she trains with Lincoln, eventually taking matters into her own hands and entering competitions independently—without her school’s backing. And honestly? Good for her.

Now, I’ve never played 18 holes in my life, but I did grow up with a grandpa who loved golf, and this book gave me that same warm, nostalgic comfort. Sweet Spot doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it absolutely finds its own—well, sweet spot. It was exactly what I needed this weekend.

Final Verdict:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) — Fun, empowering, and easy to devour.
🌶️ (1.5/5) — Low spice but solid tension.

If you love sports romances with driven heroines, charming older heroes, and the satisfaction of watching a girl take down a system that underestimated her—this one’s a win.

The one thing I have found with Rebecca Jenshak and her books, is that they are so well thought out, detailed, passionate and absolutely everything a person needs for a sports romance. What I love about Sweet Spot is that it is not just a story about golf, it is about self discovery. Not just for Keira but also for Lincoln. That they do have a place in the world. Not just as individuals but also as a couple. Their connection is absolutely sizzling. Even though Lincoln fights it most of the time and Keira tries to play it off, these two together are magic. With the audio, you really get their playfulness and their passion. They play so well off of each other as well as their banter had me giggling and swooning at the same time. As the story progresses, you really get a feel for both characters and how they develop through it. Both are so passionate about not only golf, but life.
Overall, this is a brilliant story by Jenshak. While set in the Valley U world, it is a complete standalone. While listening to it, I adored the narrators and how their flow was. They really did fit the story and the characters. The attention to detail that the author has given to this story, especially regarding all things golf, was absolutely perfect. I never felt lost, because this girl knows nadda about golf aside from hit ball, watch fly! The passion, the chemistry, the absolute love and respect that these two have just makes you want the book to never end. It was pure magic and I loved every word of it!

I love sports romances and thought Sweet Spot by Rebecca Jenshak sounded interesting. I loved the story, the writing and the characters. I listened to the audio and really enjoyed the narrators portrayal of the characters. It was such a fun story and left me smiling throughout.
Keira is a student and a golf player. Her team coach doesn't think she has it. Lincoln is a former player and comes to run a clinic for the boys team. Lincoln believes Keira has what it takes to make it all the way. The two have great chemistry, banter and a fun coach/student relationship.
I really liked that this story included the sport as part of the plot. Many times sports romances revolve just around it, but I find it more interesting actually having scenes take place involving the sport.
I have not read anything in the Valley U world and this can be read as a standalone and you will not miss anything. I can't wait to read more from this author as I really enjoyed this story.

I really enjoyed this sports/new adult romance from Rebecca Jenshak. Kiera and Lincoln's story was a great slow-burn romance. Keira is a feisty, determined athlete that is looking for a coach to help her up her game, and her school's golf coach is NOT that guy. She meets Lincoln by chance, and their journey to taking her game to the next level takes them from coach-and-athlete to friends to lovers. The journey of their relationship is really organic and well-developed.

I really enjoyed the narration by Erin Mallon and Jacob Morgan as well, You can always count on these two to be engaging, emotional, fun and expressive in their narration.

This is an ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.

Sweet Spot by Rebecca Jenshak is a funny & sweet rom com centered around golf. I was excited for this listen because I don’t think I’ve ever read about golf before. It was very entertaining.

I liked the age gap aspect of the book because Keira seems more mature than her very early 20’s.

I’ve listened to several books by both Erin Mallon and Jacob Morgan before. They are awesome narrators. I’m not sure why but their cadence seemed off. I was changing my listening speed when they switched point of view. For some reason I had to speed up for Jacob’s parts and then slow back down for Erin.

I had never read Rebecca Jenshak before but I’m definitely a fan now.

While I’m not really the biggest fan of older man romances, because I prefer younger men myself, I really did like this story a lot. I classified it as New Adult, because Keira is in college, even if Lincoln is not. The story was sweet, and definitely kept my interest. It took me longer than normal because of the lack of driving places these days, and me really only listening to audiobooks while in the car. I did love both of the narrators though, they did a great job. And I loved Lincoln’s grandma. I’m also hoping there is a book for Lincoln’s brother as well. We’ll see!

4.5 stars really!
