Publisher's Summary

#1 New York Times Bestseller!

In the second book of the Carve the Mark duology, globally best-selling Divergent author Veronica Roth reveals how Cyra and Akos fulfill their fates. The Fates Divide is a richly imagined tale of hope and resilience told in four stunning perspectives.

The lives of Cyra Noavek and Akos Kereseth are ruled by their fates, spoken by the oracles at their births. The fates, once determined, are inescapable.

Akos is in love with Cyra, in spite of his fate: He will die in service to Cyra's family. And when Cyra's father, Lazmet Noavek - a soulless tyrant, thought to be dead - reclaims the Shotet throne, Akos believes his end is closer than ever.

As Lazmet ignites a barbaric war, Cyra and Akos are desperate to stop him at any cost. For Cyra, that could mean taking the life of the man who may - or may not - be her father. For Akos, it could mean giving his own. In a stunning twist, the two will discover how fate defines their lives in ways most unexpected.

Needed to know

Glad to have the tale complete though a little too “happy ending.” Good YA/Adult crossover appropriate for all—vey little objectionable to younger readers.

awesome narration!

Austin Butler is perfect for this format. Story line is entertaining if a little juvenile (it IS YA after all). Really fun though.

Hated it.

This book was just a big letdown. The tone was all over the place and I fast forwarded through chunks of the female protagonist.

I was happy with the ending<br />

but so much was going on and so many people to understand and remember. I def enjoyed the book but it wasn't as great and exciting as the first book. but overall a job well done.

I hope there's more.

Eijeh's visions at the end really hit me hard. It felt like I was losing friends but got to see that they're happy in the future (or at least some of it).

I didn't want it to be over!

i really enjoyed the characters and the cast for this audiobook. I would have enjoyed a more drawn out and detailed close, but was happy with this duology in full.

Beautifully composed.

Roth’s ability to simultaneously raise the hair on my neck and leave a stone in my stomach is one not many writers possess. I fell in love with each character as they yearned for peace, power, and paramour. The wrap up from the Carve the Mark left all of my questions with answers and direction. The voice actors were very well cast and invited intriguing expression to the story line.
