Publisher's Summary

Prolific writer James Lincoln Collier collaborates with his brother, Christopher, a distinguished historian, and the Revolutionary War comes alive in this contemporary classic for young adults. Here is a war with no clear-cut loyalties - dividing families, friends, and towns. Young Tim Meeker watches his 16-year-old brother, Sam, go off to fight with the Patriots while his father remains a reluctant British Loyalist in the Tory town of Redding Ridge, Connecticut. Over the course of the war, Tim learns that life teaches some bitter lessons and doesn't guarantee clear answers.

My Brother Sam Is Dead is a stirring, probing tale full of action and suspense, putting listeners right into the heart of the Revolutionary War.

Just kept listening

I'm rating this for my 12 year old son who just kept listening to the book. He loves historical fiction and this book was no exception. I downloaded it on a whim for him and he sat for close to the entire time just listening to it! 4 hours of grabbing a 12 year old boys attention says a lot in my opinion.

Another excellent book this year

We loved this book as a family and loved the narrator. Voice that is easy to understand and interesting to follow along with the book. We had several great conversations about this book.

I love this book!

If you like and Adventure books this is what I would recommend for you this book has action adventure. It gives you a little history lesson as well. I wish though it would tell what happens to Tim's family.but I still give it 5 out of 5 stars because I love the storyline

I hate to read but this was a really good book

loved to read it really fast paced and mysterious to leave me thinking about it

caution

This book was part of my son's 7th grade reading list. Many of the kids were not prepared for this subject. Further, the teacher was ill-equipped to handle the ensuing emotions. This book would be more useful as a psychologist's tool for adolescents with specific circumstantial issues.

Horrid

One of the most unfortunate books about the Revolution I have encountered in thirty years. Howard Zinn for kids. I would not recommend this for anyone, young or old.

Not recommended

An interesting story, well read by the narrator, but way too much swearing! I found it offensive.
