The Overtakers have infiltrated the cast and crew. And no one knows what they have planned. The Dream sets sail filled with enthusiastic guests and crew. But not for long. Maleficent takes over a video screen and warns the guests of trouble to come. With the ship arriving at the beaches of Castaway Cay - its first of many exotic ports of call - the Kingdom Keepers are under attack; back home the Base is threatened and about to fall. The Overtakers have expanded in ways never foreseen, and it’s clear they intend to use this element of surprise to accomplish what has eluded them so far: victory. But not if Finn Whitman and friends have anything to say about it.
Is there anything you would change about this book?
This series has always been a little hard to listen to, because it changes from character to character very often. I had to skip back and re-listen to understand what was going on. I assume in the books there is a gap between paragraphs or something to indicate changing scenes. Maybe future audio versions could have sounds of some kind as indicators.
What was most disappointing about Ridley Pearson’s story?
This was the most poorly written book in the series. I felt like it was a failure as a novel. ****POSSIBLE MILD SPOILER ALERT**** I am not always opposed to cliffhangers but the end of this book was ridiculous. There were way too many loose ends. The book posed millions of questions but no answers. All the other installments have left us with some plot resolution, even though we know there's a lot more to be done. This story didn't. It was like he just ended. Like, "Well, time's up better get this to the publisher. I'll just give him what I've got" The story was full of distrust and teenage pigheadedness. The relationships so intricately built between the Keepers in the first four books broke down completely. They stopped being able to communicate. The whole team spirit they built is gone. Overall, it was a failure because there was no character growth. The characters did not evolve or change, they were stagnant. It was really disappointing. Pearson can do so much better. We know that, as evidenced by the first four books. Shame on the editor for not pressing for a re-write.
What aspect of MacLeod Andrews’s performance would you have changed?
Some voices seemed off but mostly he did well. Just wish the scene/character changes could be indicated, instead of smooshed together.
Was Kingdom Keepers V worth the listening time?
I suppose. There was as much action as ever. But don't expect the characters to develop. They are static.

I like how they added more than just Disney World and added The Cruise.
I would recommend it to Disney lovers like me.
I chose the rating because I liked the way the guy spoke for all the characters and made me feel like I was in the story!!!
I have enjoyed most of this seried throughly, but something with this book rubbed me the wrong way. Besides some cursing & an increasing focus on romantic entanglements, the series took an ominous turn, more mean-spirited. I admit I was not expecting it at all, but two attempted murders for a Disney-inspired novel was surprising. Then, the ending totally dropped the reader off a cliff or side of a ship. Anyway, I'll most likely continue with the series, but I am not sure. Somewhat disappointed.
The story had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't stop listening it was amazing.
What did you like best about Kingdom Keepers V? What did you like least?
This has been our family's least favorite tale in the series. It seemed to have too many swirling issues and nothing settled enough to make it feel like a "complete" story. <br/>We are still getting the next in the series in hopes it is better!
If you’ve listened to books by Ridley Pearson before, how does this one compare?
Start at the beginning. This one is not great.
What did you love best about Kingdom Keepers V?
The book continues the tradition of the series.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
The book appears to end in the middle of the story. Book VI feels like the end of the book. So if you like the story you'll need both books.
Where does Kingdom Keepers V rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Which scene was your favorite?
I like that they are going from park to park and that they are on the Dream now
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Moved no but I do enjoy them
Any additional comments?
What can I say, I am hooked!
What made the experience of listening to Kingdom Keepers V the most enjoyable?
I love Disney. I live in Florida. I've loved the other 4 books. I recently watched a special on Backstage Disney and saw many of the "secret" things that are written about in the series. It made me decide to take that particular tour this year.
What did you like best about this story?
Like Harry Potter, while it may have been written for a younger audience, I love every aspect of the story. I will admit I've always favored the villians at Disney - these books may make me change my mind. I smile, I laugh, I actually get teary throughout the book. I can't find a best part. I love this series from the first word to the last.
What does MacLeod Andrews bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
MacLeod brings the books alive. The accents, the attitudes. He does a great great job.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
You THINK you know Disney....
Any additional comments?
I can't wait for Book 6.....this was SUCH a cliffhanger.....
This book wasn???t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
If you've read the others in the series you will probably listen to this one as well.
What three words best describe MacLeod Andrews???s performance?
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment - it seemed like the beginning and ending were missing. It felt like it started at chapter 2 and it just stopped, no ending at all.
