Publisher's summary

An art student and monster's apprentice must decide how far she'll go to avenge her people in this riveting sequel to the mesmerizing, acclaimed book Daughter of Smoke & Bone by National Book Award finalist Laini Taylor—now with a gorgeous new package!

Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love and dared to imagine a world free of bloodshed and war.

This is not that world.

Art student and monster's apprentice Karou finally has the answers she has always sought. She knows who she is—and what she is. But with this knowledge comes another truth she would give anything to undo: She loved the enemy and he betrayed her, and a world suffered for it.

In this stunning sequel to the highly acclaimed Daughter of Smoke & Bone, Karou must decide how far she'll go to avenge her people. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, secrets and impossible choices, Days of Blood & Starlight finds Karou and Akiva on opposing sides as an age-old war stirs back to life.

While Karou and her allies build a monstrous army in a land of dust and starlight, Akiva wages a different sort of battle: a battle for redemption. For hope.

But can any hope be salvaged from the ashes of their broken dream?

Excellent sequel

Fabulous follow up to an already excellent start! I LOVE how the author brings out the story by splitting the events between the Seraphim and the Chimaera. So many interesting twists, and definitely several moments that had me gasping in surprise or excitement. As with the first book, the narration is a delight to hear. Each character has a unique voice that seems to be so natural. Can't wait to start book 3!

2nd Book in the Series...

I like the book i didn't think it was as good as the first one. The narrator does a fabulous job though. It got confusing cause it was so many POV's that you had to stop and think of who was actually talking. I am excited for the conclusion though. I think I read it won't be out until 2014.

Good story and it plays with imagination

If you could sum up Days of Blood & Starlight in three words, what would they be?

suspenseful, heartache and hope.

What does Khristine Hvam bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love the way she changes into the villains in the story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

awesome!

I really enjoyed this book! It was subtle in
how much happened. I kept me going and then, and then, and then just like from "Dude, Where's My Car?" I didn't want to stop listening to it. I had high points and looks points and they're all great :D Totes a favorite!!!

Wonderful.

Days of Blood & Starlight was everything I loved about the first book, without the few things I didn't like. The writing is still absolutely beautiful, the settings so alive, but the characters and story line have evolved from that YA obsession into something more. Judging from the first book's ending, I knew we'd have to wait for book three, but for once I don't mind. It's worth it. If you enjoyed Daughter of Smoke & Bone at all, this one is definitely a must.

fantastic book with a fantastic narrator

I have listened to the complete series twice through without a days pause. the language is fantastic, and the narrator is so on point, perfectly emoting at some profoundly emotional content. This is an adventure unlike any I've been on before, and I do very much feel like I was there. DON'T read these books- LISTEN to them.

hard to stop listening

If you could sum up Days of Blood & Starlight in three words, what would they be?

exciting, endearing, suspenseful

What did you like best about this story?

It took all of the great ingredients from the first book and mixed them up in ways I didn't expect and which developed the characters and conflicts a lot.

Have you listened to any of Khristine Hvam’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I didn't want to get this one unless Ms. Hvam narrated, since she captured the first book so perfectly.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were several, but one of the roughest was finding out the secret body swap arrangement near the end. That took guts and was rather heart-breaking as well.

Any additional comments?

Highly recommended.

WOW

This is the best narration I have ever heard. The narrator made me FEEL the story. The story itself is spectacular, but it is brought to life by this incredible narrator.
