Again, good!

Great listen for a first time re-read. It was almost like the first time.

I REALLY don't like how they changed narrators nearly book. Seriously jarring to do a full-series binge listen.

Still, enjoyable. Even if not as enjoyable as my first read. Maybe it was the narrator switching, but it was only a great listen, not an epic one.

Narrators could have done better.

I love this series, but there was no emotion in the narration. Especially when it comes down to the moment everyone waited for between specific characters and the emotion was absent. Molly Quinn did an absolutely fantastic job in book 5. It was such a disappointment that it was read through so quickly and emotionally devoid of the love, lust, beauty and specialness it should have had. The long awaited journey could have been narrated much more beautifully. So disappointed. 😢

Loved the story

I know a lot of listeners complain about Jason Dohring. But I like his voice so it made up for a lot of flat reading on his part. And he really tried. Some people are just better at certain things then others. Misfire Turner did a fine job though. And the story, as all the other books, was just great.

Perfect ending to the series

I absolutely loved this book! The characters were perfect written and am so glad I took the time to read all the books. As for the narration it wasn’t good but it wasn’t nearly as bad as book 4. I really wish that they would have kept the narrator from book 1. I felt like every time I would get used to a narrator they would change them to an even worse one! I absolutely loved the story though.

Disappointed

What made the experience of listening to City of Heavenly Fire the most enjoyable?

The story

What didn’t you like about Jason Dohring and Sophie Turner ’s performance?

They have an English accent...New York is NOT England English speach.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No

Any additional comments?

I just can't get past the English accent.

Half good, half bad...

The story was good, and Sophie Turner does a good job narrating except her pronunciation of the word “anything” with an American accent!

Jason Doring’s read however was dreadful. No inflection. If that kind of thing bothers you, maybe read this one instead of listening.

A good last book

I really like how Cassandra wrapped everything up In this book. there wasn't anything left to wonder about.

The only thing that made this book a little hard to get through was the male narrator. He was a little monotone and that made his parts a little boring. overall I loved this book so much and loved this series and glad I finally got to finish it.

Story was great...narration..eh I have to agree..

What other book might you compare City of Heavenly Fire to and why?

All the Mortal Instruments (and all the spin offs) are amazing and I am sad to have run out! Bitter sweet moment.

How could the performance have been better?

As far as the narrations are concerned. I think Sophie did a good job but I'd much have preferred an American accent only because I would have liked to envision Clary (who's a New Yorker) telling the story. Also it's clear to me that they decided to do British accents for the shadowhunters because that's what they did in the movie (although it makes no sense being that they were all also raised in New York. Never the less I have a strong imagination and was able to get over it. I missed the previous narrator. As for Jason Dohring... he did ok but wasn't as animated. I didn't really understand why the narrators switched as they did but overall the story was captivating enough that I got used to it and just enjoyed the story.
