Concise advice from people facing their end

Being a practicing physician and a hospice medical Director, I can relate to this much deeper level than the general public and find the wisdom of people facing their mortality, in their great wisdom, to be passed onto those they leave behind, and those of us willing to listen

Great read when you’re 40 years old

As a mid 40s, physician myself, and watching my kids grow up I have to evaluate what is a true investment of my time efforts and social circumstances. Great book from someone who everything about the dying. This is also a great book to sit down and talk to your spouse before you start a will and trust which is exactly what led me to this book. Hopefully you enjoyed as much as I did.

Financial independence through a different lens

Having read many of the most popular financial independence books I was skeptical this book would offer much new content. I was pleasantly surprised. Start to finish, this book was full of new insights and perspectives. Well written and very thought provoking. This has become my favorite and the book I recommend to others interested in FI or FIRE.

Wonderful Audiobook - Highly Recommended

My husband and I have been listening to the audio version of “Taking Stock”. Jordan Grumet has written a thoughtful and compelling book. He is honest and vulnerable in sharing his story. His narration is superb, conversational and inviting. Perhaps the biggest praise I can offer is that my husband is very eager to listen as well. He is an author and narrator in his own right, and not usually a fan of self help style books. “Taking Stock”’s topic is serious but the author makes it very relatable, accessible and entertaining. Lots of worthy content to reflect on and put into practical use. Most highly recommended!

Review of Finance from the End

A summary of how to approach finance from the end. The author walks through his model of 3 approaches to finance. He walks through this slow approach, the medium paced approach, and also a fast approach. He has the pros and cons for each individually. He does also incorporate real life examples from his patient experience.

I appreciate each individual experience; he will incorporate a lot from his own personal experience. He also incorporated loss from the palliative approach for financial care.

Amazing book!

I first learned about the author on a financial podcast. I thought that his story was fascinating, and at the end of his interview he mentioned that he had a book. I decided to purchase the book not expecting to like it much, but I was very surprised about how much I enjoyed it. The book is well written, and the content is easy to understand regardless of a person’s financial background. In fact, there is very little financial advice at all. The financial advice that is covered is simple, which is what most financial books these days seem to be lacking. I highly recommend this book!
