Some Gold Nuggets But Tons of Boring Fillers

Pros - some real gold nuggets in the first half of the book. The true amount you're earning from work factoring in recovery expense, transport, and clothes is pure gold. Some good tactical information early on as well.

Cons - Tons of fillers and boring ass stories. The audiobook could have been easily condensed to 1/4 its size. I was so mad that the author won't get straight to the point. It's boring story after another with respective boring chapter summaries. The second half of the audiobook was useless, I learned nothing from it.

I'd recommend the first half of the audiobook but the second half you can easily skip and you won't miss anything.

No right answers???

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I think there are some sound concepts and ideas that could be quite useful. My only real pet peeve was that at the end of every chapter the author asks a series of questions and then finishes up by saying “there are no RIGHT answers“. I think she really intends to say there are no WRONG answers, but It’s quite confusing. Why would I even attempt to answer a question if I know ahead of time that there are no right answers.

Life changing!

I have always (like most people) had a unhealthy relationship with money. I finally feel like I gave the tools to help me make the changes I need to have a good relationship with money and have a happier more fulfilled life.

Overall good

Enjoyed the different approach to financial independence and retirement. Viewing time as your currency is a wonderful idea.

Too much filler

Book was long on anecdotes and boring stories and light on actual helpful strategies. I stopped listening after getting frustrated that the author wouldn’t get to the point. Just rambled for 30 minutes leading up to a basic tenet. The Simple Path to Wealth was a much better book.

A Remastered Classic

The nine steps outlined in the FIRE program is life changing. A must-read for individuals of all ages who want to free themselves from the rat race and reach financial independence. Highly recommend this book! A+

Good Read for the 30-40 year old crowd.

If you’re in your late 50s or early 60s with what the author describes as “enough” don’t bother reading this. I thought I might find some magic formula as to when I should call it a day and retire from my own small business. Nope. This book speaks to folks in the accumulation phase.
