Publisher's summary

When two brilliant scientists are catapulted fifty years into the future, they find themselves in a world that never should have been.

In 1926, Dr. Amadeus Montgomery and his assistant, Thomas Wickford, invent the Helionet—a revolutionary new device that captures high-energy particles from space and generates clean, unlimited energy.
During a fluke solar storm, the Helionet explodes, propelling the two men through space and time. They land in a world they no longer recognize.
In this new, dystopian future, the oppressive Harmonist party controls every aspect of life for every citizen. Currency is tightly monitored, and information is strictly regulated. Everyone is obligated to listen to daily news broadcasts, morning and night. Books are banned, and identity papers are a prerequisite for library admission.
While freedom is a distant memory, at least one person remembers Montgomery and Thomas’ contribution to science. The two physicists manage to find work in the monolithic Edencrest Laboratories—which just happens to be built exactly where their former laboratory once stood.
Determined to restore freedom, Montgomery and Thomas embark on a perilous quest to re-invent the Helionet and find a way back to 1926, so they change the course of history.
In a race against time and against the oppressive forces of the Harmonist party, they must navigate treacherous secrets, unexpected alliances, and mind-bending technology.
Will they succeed in their mission to save humanity, or will they become pawns in the sinister plans of the Harmonist regime? The fate of the future hangs in the balance.
