Publisher's Summary

Trapped in the game. Forced back to level 1. What's next, permadeath?

Sky Realms Online is the largest and most popular Virtual Reality MMORPG ever made. Set amongst the mystical, floating islands of Hankarth, it's played and enjoyed by millions every hour.

Until something goes wrong.

Unable to log out, players find themselves reduced to level one, and in the starting zones. They receive a cryptic message from the developers stating that for unknown reasons, they are trapped in the game and may have to live out their lives within the virtual world.

Hall is one of the those trapped in the game. He’s been playing Sky Realms Online as a spear-wielding Skirmisher ever since the beta. And instead of panicking as many do, he decides to make the most of it; to play the game and live his new life, all while quietly hoping the developers will find a fix.

It doesn’t take Hall long to find out that, while some aspects of the game are the same, the difficulty level is beyond anything he's ever experienced.

Together, with a new party of trapped players and NPCs with canned answers, Hall will find out just how different Sky Realms Online has become, and how playing a game is different from living the game....

Experience the start of this unforgettable LitRPG Adventure today! It's perfect for fans of J.A. Hunter, Dakota Krout, and Edward Brody.

Performed by Pavi Proczko, narrator of Eden's Gate and Continue Online.

Fun new LitRPG series.

Sky Realms Online: Grayhold, the first book in the Sky Realms Online series, is a fun new LitRPG novel. As someone who loves novels and loves gaming (have been gaming since the 70s...dang I'm old, lol) with RPG being my favorite genre, I've been a diehard fan of the LitRPG genre for quite a while now. And I am always thrilled to find a new series. Sky Realms does a good job of hitting most of the appropriate tropes readers have come to love and expect from the genre. It features a diverse set of well fleshed out characters, and especially the support animals! How often do you see a cow fighting as part of a party? As a gamer I felt the RPG/game elements were well implemented. If there is a weak aspect to this one, it's the story. Now don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the story and thought the action was well done, but with most books you have an idea somewhat early on what the goal of the hero/heroes is. And that wasn't the case with this book. We learn early on that something has happened and a number of characters are trapped within the game, it's their new reality, but from there it wasn't as if there was a known goal for the rest of the story. There was no well defined focus such as: kill the dragon, save the princess, as anything like that. Yes there does end up being a kind of end quest or at least a boss battle, but it wasn't really one you saw coming, no real build up where you knew it was coming. And in a way, I think that is one of the things made this game feel more like a real MMORPG than any other book I've read or listened to before. Having played a number of them, the early portions of many MMORPG is random quests with little direction or any major story until much later when more structured questlines come into play. So while I did enjoy the story, I'm just more used to their being a more focused story. That being said, I enjoyed this book enough that I listened to the entire thing in just over a day, and must say the ending does a great job of foreshadowing things to come. If you're a fan of the LitRPG genre, this definitely a series you might want to try. The book is narrated by Pavi Proczko, who is a narrator I wasn't familiar with, but I have to say he did a great job and I'll definitely check out more of his work in the future.

Great start to a new Litrpg

Osgood writes a great story about how technology we don't fully understand can change someone's life forever. Then goes about writing a story of friends and adventure full of magic and intrigue. I enjoyed the story immensely.

Proczko does a great job of giving the characters life as well as their own their own voices.

I look forward to getting the next book in the series to see what the gang gets up to next.

Really Great Start

I really liked this book. It was very interesting. I really liked the premise, and game world. It was mostly surface but it was a very nice surface. The next book will hopefully delve deep into what could be a very amazing "game/maybe real world" Perfect setup. Wish it was longer. Definitely excited for a second installment. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

True LITRPG

This was a good book with true LITRPG elements. It includes player stats, weapon stats, etc. Some books have a hard time reading them out, but this book did a good job with them. I enjoyed the story, but would have liked to find out what is actually going on with their bodies. Maybe the next book will go more into their circumstances. Narration was great, each character had their own voice and was easy to understand. I received this book for free for my honest review.

Epic Adventure

Great story and engaging narration!

MC was experiencing some serious lag while playing a vrmmorpg and wakes up to find out that he is now trapped in a virtual world (or is it Real?) and 2 years have passed. Finding out that things have changed greatly from what he knew - he must now decide how to face an uncertain future.

I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to more in the series.

Well worth a credit.

Sky Realms Review

Great otherworld book with a lot of details for the game they're stuck inside of. The narrator did a good job seperating characters with his voice.

Great book

I love it when I can listen to a strong language and sex free book, even better if it's LitRPG with a great story

A different kind of book

To enjoy this book you need to love gsming and novels. This book does a good job hitting most areas people in this genre love. You have creative element choices. It was slow for me in the beginning until I caught on and then it went fast. The characters have depth and are believable. The narration is good with all the voices it maintains your interest. There is a lot of action, weapons with lots of quests but there are no purpose to them besides giving the characters something to do.

Good story, looking forward to more

I would recommend this story to anyone who enjoys more mature characters. It was enormously refreshing to not have the protagonist be a total jackass. My favorite part was how while the MC was the leader of his group and probably the most powerful he still needed his friends and did not overshadow them over much. My only regret is having to wait for the sequel.

Great LitRpg. Amazing listen!

Wow what a story. This is my second LitRpg and it did not dissapoint. The story and detail of the world draw you into the mind blowing idea that you're stuck inside an MMORPG and it is now your life. The characters were great and the idea was well played out throughout the book. Really liked the narrator and finished the book in 2 days. Really can't wait for the next installment.

Solid LitRPG story

This is a nice mix the general LitRPG tropes and a few nice ideas. The interactions between the players and NPCs was quite refreshing. I enjoyed all the characters as they were a nice mix of different believable people having varied motivations. The quests were very in-depth than something you would get in WoW like game and did a nice job of build the story and world.

The narrator gave me mixed feelings by the end of the book. The first half of the book I really loved it as it was so laid back and more of relaxed slice of life story but then later on I started feeling like it was too relaxed in his tone. He used a very monotone voice which if I wasn't focusing on the story during my walk I could suddenly have blanked on what had happened the last ten minutes as nothing really keep my attention in his voice.

The leveling was a bit slower than I usually expect in these kind of books but I think the level cap seems a lot lower so level ups are few and far between. This didn't both me and quite enjoyed it over someone killing a bunch of mobs and level up 5 levels becoming overpowered quickly. The power level felt like they were always underleveled for whatever quest they were doing and gave some nice aspect of danger as we still don't know if you respawn on death.

The last few chapters of the book built up a sequel quite well as I love MCs running villages/ towns and managing resources and keeping town folk happy and making the place prosperous.

Overall I would recommend this book.

Pretty Good

With lots of LitRPG out there its hard to make them stand out but this one has some interesting naunces to the story.
I liked how they ended up in Gameplay and as usual the interactions between NPC and Players was good as well.
Narration was a little slow but 1.2 speed helped i found, and the voices were done quite well so it wouldn't put me off further narration from this Narrator Proczko.
Story was pretty consistent and enjoyable so would pick up further in this series as i imagine it would pick up even further.

litrpg for hardcore gamers

The story starts off slow but the final chapters really draw you in. Until the latter half of the book it follows the MC and his new found friends, it follows an interesting plot of people being trapped in a game but there doesn't seem to be a goal (until the end). I really liked the MCs character, the author creates an interesting class system. I will be getting book two because the cliff hanger is really shocking and will draw others in as well.

Interesting premise and likeable main characters

This book starts out with a fairly common premise for the genre, one where a player is forced to live as their character or is unable to logout for some reason or another, but it is done it in an interesting manner with many of the rules of the game world changing in the aftermath of the incident.

In addition to the likeable main character and his party made up of both players and NPCs, this world has a varied and interesting cast of characters and monsters that further help to draw the listener into the world of this book.

The narrator does a good job overall of enhancing this book with a clear and suitably distinctive performance that helps the listener distinguish between the characters.

Overall, this book worked well as a story in it's own right while also setting things up very nicely for subsequent books in the series as well and I will definitely be looking out for the next one when it comes out.

DNF

Might try to come back to this later, but the first few hours, we seem to follow an MC playing a game he's already completed, in a class he has no control over, in a world he can't leave, with quests he can't choose between and with a companion he feels obligated to stick with. I read this genre mostly to have fun. 4 hours in, zero fun.

Fun and promising start to a new series

I received a copy of this book for review. It's a well written and narrated adventure that drops you straight into the action as you explore the world with the main character as he comes to grips with the new world and mechanics. It provides an interesting twist on the being trapped within a game storyline and I'm very much looking forward to the next book as the ending promises much to come.

Enjoyable

I really enjoyed this and am looking forward to subsequent books, though I can't really qualify why.
I think its just a fun world and has some issues you don't often see in litRPGs. It's easier to identify with Hall than a lot of other protagonists as he's not some 'chosen one'. He's just a regular guy and he doesn't try to be anything else.
I love the fact that we're a whole book in and it hasn't started shoving sexuality and gender politics down my throat (which seems to be the norm lately).
Yes there is a slight lack of direction but it's refreshing not to have the world/galaxy/universe in the balance.
My one gripe is that the author leans toward being over-descriptive. I don't think the reader needs to know the shape, design, and construction materials of every table, chair, and door frame they walk past. Maybe just the poignant bits
