Publisher's Summary

"I was sure my heart had withered away years ago, but then you smiled at me, and I felt it beat again." - Gage

Years ago, I fell in love with my best friend's little brother. Then, he took his own life, leaving me shattered and unable to piece my heart back together. I've been a zombie for nine long years. Until a crazy, gorgeous man walked into Heathens Ink and injected color back into my world of gray. No matter how hard I try to resist Beck, he just won't give up on me. I would need steel willpower to withstand his gorgeous long legs in those high heels and his drawer full of lacy lingerie. But is this just a kinky hook up, or does it have the possibility for more?

"We're both broken, but our jagged edges fit together well." - Beck

When you're half of a whole, you never contemplate what life would be like without your matching piece. Since my twin sister, Brianna, died last year, nothing I do seems to quiet my soul. I know there has to be some way for me to feel happy and whole again. And, when I look into the pained eyes of the tattoo artist at Heathens Ink, I feel like I have a purpose. I can't explain it, but I feel like I have to find a way to put him back together.

Shattered Pieces is the fourth book in the Heathens Ink series; each book in the series can be enjoyed as a standalone.

5 stars

I absolutely hands down, love this series. I knew this story would be an emotional one because of Gage and how lost he seemed to be throughout this series. It was absolutely heartfelt and I couldn't walk away.

Two lost souls coming together and helping to mend the holes in each other's hearts. It was a highly emotional and sexy read.

I listened to the audio book and felt it was spot on. Narration was perfect and brought extra depth to the story with how well the narrator expressed the characters feelings. This series can be read as standalones, but I highly recommend reading or listening to them all.

Shattered Pieces

Sweet book about a Second Chance at Love.
Gage lost his first love when he was 20, and 10yrs later, He's still not sure he could even try to find love again until Beck walks into his life. Beck loves Makeup, Lace and Heels. He meets Gage and instantly wants to bring him back to life, the life he should have. They are pretty perfect for each other but it takes a lot to get them where they need to be emotionally for the relationship to work.
Audio - Kenneth does a good job, I really enjoyed his voices for Gage and Beck and I look forward to listening to the next in this series. I'm really glad the author has stuck with Kenneth as the narrator for these last few books..

Gage is My “One” in this Series

Gage is my “one” in this series. I loved his character with every appearance in the Hunter’s Ink series. All the characters move through all the books effortlessly. Gage is a broken, lonely, tender man. He lost the love of his life at such a young age in such a tragic way that while he survived it physically, he did not survive it in any other way. His life simply stopped when Johnny died. His friends have stayed by his side and loved him as much as he would allow. But, he held so much of himself back not believing he deserved happiness and they could not reach him. When his roommate, Johnny’s straight brother, Adam finds love, with a man Gage’s journey begins. He is angry that Adam hid the fact that he might be gay. He is angry that Adam did not tell him about Nox. He stumbled up on that little secret and it hurt. He was angry when he met a man who started to splintered the wall he built around his heart and his life when Johnny died. Enter Beck, a butterfly, a dancer in high heels and pink gauze who has suffered a profound loss of his own, his sister, Brianna. She was his other half, his twin, and the guiding voice still showing him the way. These are to men with similar stories of loss and grief and pain. Beck is in many ways the stronger of the two and Brianna is in part the reason why. She never let him settle even, no especially, after her death. Beck sees Gage as a bird with a broken wing and sets about to mend that wing knowing that he will have to set him free when he is healed. Johnny speaks to Gage throughout the story giving him the hope and strength to let go and fall in love. There were parts of this story that made me ugly cry, full on sobbing. It touched some of the losses in my past in a sweet and gentle way, we all have them. Loss is universal to the human spirit, the lesson here for me. The sex in this book is just as hot as I the rest of the books in this series, ain’t that why we’re here? The life lessons are more subtle, the love, the, loss, the pain, the joy that love can bring. Seeing the “colors” return to Gage’s life was like watching a curtain being lifted on a darkened stage and having the spotlights come up, magic. So, yes Gage is my one in this series and now just writing this review brings a tear to my eye, and I do love a good cry. Kenneth Obi, voice actor, does a great job with this story. Each character is given a distinct voice whether Johnny from the grave or Beck urging Gage to let go and live. I can hardly wait for the next book in the series to come out on audiobook, my drug of choice.

as good as the ebook

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Kenneth Obi is one of the 2 narrators (so far), I can listen without break and have no problems to follow.

Beck and Gage

The feels in this series...Wow. I have been thoroughly enjoying every book and this one is no different. The way the characters were written with their quirks and flaws is awesome. There were times in this story where I wanted to scream at Gage. There was also a point in this story that I felt so bad for Beck.

What I really like about this series is how it highlights things that some teens and young adults that are part of the LGBTQ community are treated when they come out to their families. I love how each of the members and their subsequent partners volunteers at a center for the youth of that community. The book before this one touched on suicide and showed how much support is needed. It also showed how it affects the people who are left behind.

Beck and Gage's story was awesome. The characters kept it real and I loved it. Both Beck and Gage were written as beautifully broken, just like the rest of the team members. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series.

Wonderful

Loved Gage and Beck's book. Great to see Johnny got his peace and to let Johnny know he could love Beck with his whole heart. Also Johnny knowing Adam was Bi and didn't have a problem.
