Publisher's summary

Roly Martinez checklist: EpiPens, burn ointment, and condoms. You gotta come prepared for hate sex.

Heath has every reason to hate me, and that only serves to fuel our explosive chemistry. Now that we live in the same city again, all I want to do is show this sexy bear of a man that I’m not the jerk he once knew. My career as a US Navy SEAL changed the course of my life, and I'm desperate for him to see the new me.

Unfortunately, my reconciliation efforts so far have ended in hospitalization, second-degree burns, and a broken towel rack.

Not my finest work.

Of course, if he finds out the details of the military operation that forever changed me, it might be game over.

I mean...can he forgive me if I can’t even forgive myself?

Shameless is post-military enemies-to-lovers MM romance set in a gym for combat vets. It features muscled twinks, beautifully bellied bears, and a four-year-old with a lisp.

Note: This book depicts military violence, but the HEA is guaranteed.

This is the third book in the Wrecked series. Several characters, including Roly, first appear in Scout and the Lavender Girl.

My heart melted

John Solo finally Goldilocksed his way into the Baby Bear book of the Wrecked series. The one that's just right for his voice talents. He was good with Sanctuary, okay with Surrender, but with Shameless, his characterizations were completely on point for both Heath and Roly.

I love the book, the story is top-notch, even though I'm not usually a fan of bully romances, but I'm a huge fan of Kelly Fox, and she did everything right with the story, in my opinion. Then, Solo brings it to life with just the right intonation for the bear and the bear killer.

Well done!

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!

This whole series is awesome and so is Wrecked: Guardians.

There’s so many feels in this one.

Highly recommend.

You won’t be disappointed.

John does a wonderful job as always.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review. I read the book previously in KU as well.

Yes yes and more yes

Roly and Heath are my go to reread and I now know this audio will be in rotation as well! The narrator was able to hit the funny and the serious moments on point and I appreciate when that happens. Sometime with beloved characters I have an idea in my head that I can’t shake when the audio comes out but in this case I was still able to appreciate the audio. Kelly Fox is an amazing wordsmith, I’m pretty obsessed with the series.

ᗴᗰOTᎥOᑎᗩᒪ, ᖴᑌᑎᑎY, ᗷᗴᗩᑌTᎥᖴᑌᒪ

A poignant enemies-to-lovers type of story dealing with past hurt and trauma, current anxiety and pain, and the personal growth that can come from and through both.

Beautifully narrated by John Solo, my only complaint is the chapter headings; that soft, almost apologetic whispery voice just doesn’t fit the characters. It was great for book 2, but I wasn’t expecting and didn’t appreciate it in book 3.

Roly, bear killer!!! 🐻

Book 3 in the Wrecked series.

This series revolves around the Wrecked gym and the combat vets that work out there.

This book is about:

Roly - ex Navy SEAL, high school cheerleader, 5 and a half foot ball on energy, nicknamed Bear Killer. His personality is bigger than his body. He's always been the life of the party. He only dates bears due to a confrontation he had in Iraq, he only feels safe with large men.

Heath - Scout's and Jean-Pierre's business manager, nicknamed Heavy, by Roly in high school, and then Sexy Papa Bear, as adults. Heath has recently relocated to Austin due to his ex-wife's job, so that he can be near her and their three girls.

For years Heath has struggled with self esteem issues due to bullying in high school, due to his weight, which was exacerbated by Roly.

This story is about opening old wounds then the slow process of healing them and moving on, along with sexy times.

John Solo brought this story to life. The voices he used for each of the characters were spot on. There was the one glaring mispronunciation of Tony Chachere's seasoning, but if you aren't from down south you probably wouldn't know any better. I'll give him that one 😉, it made me smile.

Enemies to lovers, hurt/comfort, hate sex, mental health issues

LOVED!

John Solo does an amazing job of narrating Shameless.
Shameless is the ultimate enemies to lovers story. Roly and Heath have a long time history of negativity. Can they get past that and learn who they are today? I enjoyed the journey these two took to their HEA. You will cry, smile, swoon and so much more reading this story.
This is a great addition to the Wrecked series.

Fantastic!

War hero Roly’s life is about to come to a serious change. His coping mechanisms aren’t going to work anymore- he can’t just outrun the past. Enter Heath- the trigger that sets off a chain of events bound to make Roly a better man. This romance starts out with an enemies to lovers kind of vibe, but it is so much more. Written with such depth and honesty, Fox treats PTSD with such dignity and respect but doesn’t bog the reader down by making it the sole focus. The very complicated, yet amazing, relationship growing between Roly and Heath along with the Wrecked family make this story beautiful. John Solo narrates well, but I’ve read this story so many times and in my head Roly has a Hispanic accent. He does not in the audio version :(

Perfect passion

I love Roly and all that he has going on. He and Heath have a rocky road ahead of them due to the one behind them.

I think this is a wonderful story with great characters. The narration by John Solo definitely does the book justice.

Most of the time, relationships aren’t easy. They wouldn’t be nearly as much fun to read about if they were. In this book, Roly and Heath have the added baggage of a contentious and adversarial relationship in high school. Roly’s efforts to befriend Heath as an adult would be adorable if it weren’t also poignant and incredibly flawed. However, the resulting shenanigans (especially the inevitable hate sex) are hilarious and embarrassing for everyone involved.

Both protagonists of this book have a steep learning curve for accepting each other into their lives. Heath must learn to see past the harm Roly did to him as a teenager and get that Roly has changed—for the better. However, “better” is always a work in progress, and Roly is not the shining paragon of virtue he could be. He continues to run from his past through vaguely self-destructive methods, despite how much his found family encourages him to take care of himself first.

When Roly’s past suddenly arrives to beat some sense into him (literally), Fox once again shows the worst of military service’s aftereffects with care and sensitivity. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) often go hand-in-hand. Fox also does not shy away from depicting Roly’s past rather than merely telling the reader what he experienced. That level of visceral storytelling makes the happily ever after for both men so much more worth it.
