Publisher's summary

Sam reminds me of the horses we rescue. Scarred, skittish, and…strong. Beautiful.

He’s a bit of a hat-stealer, and, truth be told, I’m a little leery of his chosen profession. The things he does in front of a camera...well, it makes me blush just thinkin' about it. But if that scar on his face is any indication, he could use somebody at his back. I aim to be that person.

And yeah, some of my parts get confused by the fact that he’s all delicate and sparkly, but that’s not important. Even if the good hand lotion has somehow made it into the tack room.

I just hope he knows that he’ll always be safe with me.

It's official. I now identify as Wrangler-sexual, and it’s entirely the fault of Trip Goodnight.

He's the strapping cowboy next door and will someday be the father of my two-point-five children. He just doesn't know it yet.

We’re an unlikely pairing, what with him being a straight cowboy and me being a gay sex worker, but those, darling, are mere details. When he saves me from a literal nest of rattlesnakes, it’s nothing if not true love. I’m aiming for a spring wedding.

In fact, I’ve stolen Trip’s cowboy hat and used it in one of my videos, so I’m already well on my way to making him mine. Besides, he’s the first man outside of my found family who’s made me feel safe. Protected.

That’s gotta count for something...right?

Bisexual awakening, hurt-comfort, size difference, friends to lovers.

Best Book I’ve Read In Awhile

I absolutely loved this book! I read a lot of books. I mean, a lot. This is one of my favorites this year. I loved Tripp and Sam. Their relationship bloomed from their first glance. I love how Tripp dotes on Sam, and how Sam rubs his belly. Their relationship is adorable.

This book is everything

Ive listened to this book so many times now I feel i owe it an updated review! The narrator did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life. Even when I read this book I still hear the characters in his voice. Highly highly recommend this book and series. The love, the steam, the passion, the fire, the sweetness, the romance, and the level of acceptance portrayed in this book really hit the mark every time!

Sam & Trip are perfect

Sam and Trip are one of the best couples I’ve read/listened to. Sam didn’t have an easy childhood or early adulthood, but he’s finally in a safe place and very happy. If he happens to be pinning for his handsome cowboy neighbor, then he’ll just use that as inspiration for his work.

Trip hasn’t had a crush on a man before but as he gets to know Sam he realizes he might just have a thing for him. He rescues Sam from some rattlesnakes and it’s just the perfect meet cute for these two.

I love the way the friendship blossoms and then grows into romance. They seem so different but they are exactly what the other one needed. When danger comes calling for Sam can Trip be the man to save him?

Blake Lockheart does an incredible job as the narrator as well. He is able to capture the personality of both men perfectly.

I will definitely be listening to this book repeatedly.

Swoony bi-awakening romance

I’m just a huge Kelly Fox fan at this point! I absolutely adored Goodnight. Trip and Samuel are amazing together. I love a good bi-awakening story and Trip was just perfect. Watching him discover his feelings for Samuel was wonderful and there were so many sweet moments between them. Trip is totally swoon-worthy book-boyfriend material! Kelly sets us up with lots of fun characters for future books, but I have a feeling she’s going to torture us and make us wait until the last book for Wyatt’s story! I smiled my way through this delightful romance.

I think this would be best read after the four Wrecked: Guardians books as there are several cameos and mentions of characters and events from that series. It is my opinion that you could skip the Wrecked series altogether, but I do recommend Scout and the Lavender Girl as a prequel. I did like the Wrecked series, but I didn't love it as much as did the Guardians.

EDIT 8/22: I just finished listening to the audiobook and was reminded all over again why I love this book so much! Trip just makes me swoon!!! Blake Lockheart’s narration is so perfect! I don’t think I’d heard this narrator before and he was really good. I hope he narrates the rest of the series. I gave every book in this series five stars and I’m so excited to re-experience this series on audio.

Blake did it for me.

Narration was very enjoyable. I would have enjoyed the book if I read it, but this was definitely better.

Wonderful new series to start.

Sam deserved a happy ending. Trip is the perfect man for him. How accepting Trip is in the beginning with the different things he finds out about Sam and falling head over heels for him was perfect. Sam with his snark and loving feeling for Trip is what he needed also. Can’t wait for the rest of the series to come out.

Why did I wait so long?

I’ve owned this for a long time but hadn’t listened to it yet. I’m regretting that. I forgot how much I enjoy Kelly Fox’s writing. I love how this series ties into the last two. You never have to truly say goodbye to the characters this way. I liked Sam and enjoyed getting to know all the characters. I enjoyed Trip’s lack of toxic masculinity that you might expect from a cowboy in Texas. He was a solid guy and good for Sam. This is my first experience with the narrator. I liked his narration. I’d be willing to listen to more of his work.

Need another star because 5 isn't enough!

Narrator: I think this is my first Blake Lockheart narration and he killed it! Such a great choice for this audio. He captured all the lovely emotional parts as well as made the spicy scenes extra spicy. I loved his voices for all the characters. I hope he narrates the entire series!

Story: This book far exceeded my expectations. Kelly is such a great writer and gets better and better with each book. This story was such a pleasure to read.

Trip Goodnight is the ultimate book boyfriend. He has such a calm and steady demeanor, and he is a loyal, loving and genuine person. He cares about everyone around him, but he adores Sam. Trip never once judges Sam for anything, nor does he judge his adopted family. Kelly does an amazing job writing this man whose actions speak much louder than words. And when things get tough? He keeps his cool and focuses on problem solving.

Ok, that's enough gushing about Trip! I could go on and on. I also loved Sam. Despite what he's experienced throughout his life, he's such an upbeat and positive person. I do think it's partly due to his found family, but that's also just who he is. Yes Trip is a great match for him, but Sam is also great for Trip. He totally takes Trip out of his quiet, introverted shell and pushes him to engage more with the world and people around him. Plus, Sam is a total bad@**.

Kelly continues to write vulnerable, caring and sensitive men and I'm loving every page of it. Her humor is also, yet again, spot on. I laughed a lot while reading this. It was fun having several characters from previous series pop up and getting to see how much they love Sam. The story was interesting and introduced several characters whose stories I now need. I can't wait for Sparrow's book!
