Publisher's Summary

I murder the bad guys on my downtime. You could say it’s one of my favorite hobbies. If someone wanted to get rid of me, I have this entire history of arson and murder they could have used. So, who framed me for embezzling and why? And why was I sent to Scorchwood as a first-time offender? It’s in Hell because that’s where they send the truly evil to rot.

I was planning on being a good girl, serving my time and then killing whoever framed me when I got out. But I’ve made friends in Scorchwood, and apparently, it’s not just me that was framed. Someone wants elementals in Scorchwood.

I’m the first fire elemental they framed, and they don’t know about Fergus, my fire dragon. They don’t know we just love burning the bad guys. I have new friends in jail. A wolf, a vampire, and a demon could come in handy destroying everyone involved in whatever this plot is.

Bad narration and making of the audio book

I think this book series took me over a month to finish. It was so hard to listen too. I finish most books depending on length in 1-3 days. The narrators chose for the voices was weird and hard to listen to. Also you can clearly hear where they cut and pasted parts of the audio book together. And as for the story.... I like the concept and when I started book one I put aside the narrators voices, and the bad cut and past of the audio and tried to focus on the story itself. I can’t say that the story wasn’t interesting because why else would I have tortured myself with listening to all three books. ( I bought these in a set other wise no I would not have purchased the other two books). As the story progressed everything was to easy. I like a happy ending as much as the next person but I expect them to lose some of the fights and for there to be a struggle. Every conflict was won and easily. I wondered what was going to happen next but I was never on the edge of my seat in able to stop listening. There was several times I could only listen to 15 minutes at a time because of the voices or lack of interest in what was happening. I listened to several other books in between trying to finish this one. I have stopped reading books before because I just couldn’t get into them and found my self wondering how they ended and I find that torturous to. So I sucked it up and finished it. I will be returning it because this is not a book I will ever listen to again.

A Fantastic Listen!

Everything about this series is freaking awesome! Listening to it was a great experience and I loved all the voices that the narrator could perform. I would definitely listen and read again.

Great Series

Great RH. Loved the premise of a prison RH. Had some humor in it and is worth the credit.

Who reads like this?

This is the second time I’ve run into this narrator. I choked down the last book she read. I can’t do it with this one. The storyline is interesting and I want to know what happens at the end. But this is torture!

Enjoyed

Loved the story. Even enjoyed most if the narration. The voice for Roman was hideous and I cringed every time he spoke. Gives book 4/5 stars

Terrible narration, did not finish

This story premise was interesting but the narration was so terrible I couldn’t finish it. I listen to audio books all the time, out of hundreds of books this is my third time doing so. It sounded like the narrator was reading the book for the first time, her cadence & word emphasis was bad. The accents were inconsistent & overly dramatic. Gonna try reading it on Kindle now.

Bearly made it to the finish line

Honestly, I was gonna dropp it, but I really liked the concept. So I forced myself through it and it was not worth it. The narrator was awful, it doesn't sound like shes reading the sentences, just the words. At times it sounds like one of those Google translate voices. And the voices chosen for some of the characters are just awful. She makes on of them sound like a oldschool posh Dracula and I'm not here for it, kind of like the unbrave lion in the wizard of Oz from 1939.

When I managed to ignore the terrible narration, which took me the whole of book one, I realized that the writing is subpar. Its repetitive and undescript. Sounds like the vocabulary used in the book is lacking. I like the concept, but it needs to be improved. I couldn't listen to the end, but I managed to make it to the end of the main story line. Not worth your credit or time, tbh. It could have been so much better.

Alright Story, Terrible Narration

This book series is ... okay? The narration is absolutely terrible. There are weird pauses in the middle of sentences, slip ups with the reading and horrible "accents". Honestly I had to speed up the narration just to get through the books, she speaks so slow and it sounds like it takes her a great effort to read the text out loud.
The book setting and story itself is interesting... I think the character is way to full of herself, like the author wanted to push a strong female lead but it was WAY over done and cringeworthy. I finished the series though and liked how the epilogue summed everything up nicely so there isn't any loose ends.

I finished this crappy series

So many inconsistencies, reiterating the same things and all out crapfest. The narration and editing was completely horrifying and while the storyline was okay, there was just too much bad over shadowing it. How is she alleric to iron when she can use a car, phone, eating utensils, take iron supplements, stay in a jail cell, etc without it coming up once in the previous stories? At the very end of the third book she gets shot and everyone is like "oh yeah by the way you're allergic to iron." This truly was awful.

Frustrating beyond belief!

I am only on chapter 18 of the first book and while I’m finding the story interesting I’m constantly cringing at the narrator. She pauses way too often and emphasises words randomly making it impossible to concentrate on the story itself. I’m trying to persevere for the authors sake but it’s not easy.

portua K Winters totally ruined this great story

the narrator completely ruined these stories. her stilled and inappropriate inflections made listening beyond bearable. I've purchased the books to read myself, don't waste your time with this narrator, I'll never purchase another book read by her.
