Publisher's summary

As the New Republic takes devastating losses in the ongoing war with the scattered remnants of the Empire, the galaxy's future depends on three small children, among them the Jedi twins, born to incredible powers and perils, as an extraordinary new saga unfolds.

While the New Republic struggles to decide what to do with the deadly Sun Crusher, a new doomsday weapon stolen from the Empire by Han Solo, the renegade Imperial Admiral Daala uses her fleet of Star Destroyers to conduct guerrilla warfare on peaceful planets. And now she threatens the watery homeworld of Admiral Ackbar.

But as the battle for a planet rages, an even greater danger emerges at Luke Skywalker's Jedi academy. A brilliant student delves dangerously into the dark side of the Force and unleashes the spirit of an ancient master of the evil order that warped Darth Vader himself. Working together, they may become an enemy greater than the New Republic has ever fought...and more powerful than even a Jedi Master can face.

Remake!

Story is great!
These 3 hour books are a joke! Star Wars franchise trying to squeak every single penny out of their story. pretty much a kick in the face to your fans!

The nerrator......... He obviously doesn't know anything about Star Wars due to the fact that he mispronounces so many Star Wars specific words. Why would you have someone that is not a Star Wars fan narrate your books?........Puzzling!

Could have been a 5 star but instead it's a 4.

EU gold!

The story is good and important enough to tolerate the abysmal narration. Read my review for the first book in the series for an in depth review of the narration.

it's short

I mean, I know it's abridged but 4 chapters?? I feel like the story ended in the middle of the second act.

Decent

A decent "short story" version of the novel. If it was unabridged, I would have probably gave it a better review.

mispronounciations make me CRINGE

How do you mispronounce such common names as the Emperors', or known planets and sith lords', in addition the voices used for Han, Yoda, and others are horrible enough to make me wonder, HAS THIS NARRATOR EVER WATCHED STAR WARS?

Amazing story. horrible narration.

one of my favorite stories in the Star Wars universe. the abridgement makes it feel like the story was rushed and alot of smaller details are just ignored. if you can get over that AND Anthony Heald mispronouncing Palpatine, Exar Kuun, and especially coruscant...you may enjoy it. I gave it 3 stars over all because I love the story but the Narrator damn near killed me.

Too abridged

The narrator’s insistence on mis-pronouncing Coruscant & Palpatine are utterly obnoxious. The whole thing is way too abridged, jumps around so much & can tell a whole lot is missing. Angry I wasted $ on it. I wonder why an unabridged version hasn’t been made on Audible.

Good novel, terrible audio book.

I have read the paperback novels for the entire trilogy. I must say that the audio books leave something to be desired. First off, I am not a fan of the narrator. To an avid Star Wars fan, he mispronounces words which I found incredibly annoying. This makes me wonder if the narrator has even seen the movies. Do yourself a favor and read this series, skip the audio book.

Great story, but narrator ruins it for me

If you could sum up Star Wars: The Jedi Academy Trilogy, Volume 2: Dark Apprentice in three words, what would they be?

Really distracting narration

Who was your favorite character and why?

Luke Skywalker

How could the performance have been better?

Bad narration with multiple mispronunciations. Coruscant is pronounced "CorusKant", Han Solo sounds like a 1940's gangster, and Wedge Antilles sounds like Scotty from Star Trek. Very distracting after hearing the amazing Mark Thompson in so many great readings.

Any additional comments?

Please have Mark Thompson narrate any book previously narrated by Anthony Heald!
