Publisher's summary

Roger Ramius Sergei Chiang MacClintock was young, handsome, athletic, an excellent dresser, and third in line for the Throne of Man. So it wasn't surprising that he became spoiled, self-centered, and petulant. After all, what else did he have to do with his life?

But that was before his mother, the empress, packed him off to a backwater planet and he found himself shipwrecked on the planet Marduk, with jungles full of damnbeasts, killerpillars, carnivorous plants, and barbarian hordes of bad disposition. Fortunately, Roger had an ace in the hole: Bravo Company of Bronze Battalion of the Empress' Own Regiment. Now all Roger has to do is hike halfway around the planet, capture a spaceport from the Bad Guys, commandeer a starship, and go home.

Don't miss the rest of the action in the Prince Roger Series.

Military Sci-Fi at its best.

Would you listen to March Upcountry again? Why?

I just listened to it for the 3rd time in 3 years. It is a great update of the Xeonophon story and a touch of Alexander the Great, with wonderful charactars throughout.

Have you listened to any of Stefan Rudnicki’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Great performance with several voice changes that ring true.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Prince Rogers transformation from spoiled brat to tough as nails leader.

Any additional comments?

All three books in the trilogy are great reads.

Marduke isn't a Dog

And Dogzart is a huge lizard. Prince Roger is an unlikely hero and jarheads even Basick jarheads aren't usually my favorite characters. The natives are giant 4 armed Scummies covered in slime??? Endless battles with 100,000 or more dead Scummies as the result can get pretty repetitive and the loss of some heroes we come to like is tough to take.

It takes a heck of a book to overcome those 'shortcoming' and this is one hell of a book and series.
Sure it drags on a bit with 3 full books from the time the characters crash land on Marduke until they take off for a flight back to Earth but 90% of this epic is very imaginative and interesting. Mr Weber loves his ancient weapons mixed with the new and his future worlds back in the Dark Ages. I listened to the entire series and enjoyed almost all of it. 4 stars.

great book

A very spectacular book. One that I have listened to at least 15 times. Should be noted that the narrator is awesome.

Favorite book

The first book by David Weber I’d read, and the first one I’ve listened to, Stefan Rudnicki delivers another outstanding performance with a wonderful voice and enunciation.

John and David make a great collaboration

It’s great adventure sci-fi, and John gives grounding being a former pongo. And David’s obsession with naval aspects and xenobiogy makes this a fun as hell read.

Out F'n standing story, read masterfully by a top notch narrator.

This is by far, one of my all time favorites. I go back to it time and time again just to hear Armond give the Prince a royal arse chewing and listen again of the story of a young misunderstood "cloths-horse" turn into a respectable honest to goodness hero.

The 4 Book Series is Simply Outstanding!....

I've listened to the series on 3 occasions and enjoyed it each time!

Highly Recommended to anyone who enjoys action and adventure when seemingly impossible odds are in play.

Stephen Rudnicki's narration is wonderful too!
