Publisher's Summary

Kitty's radio show is as popular as ever, and she has a boyfriend who actually seems to understand her. Can she finally settle down to a normal life? Not if this is just the calm before the storm.

When her mother falls ill, Kitty rushes back to Denver - and right back to the abusive pack of werewolves she escaped a year ago. To make matters worse, a war is brewing between the city's two oldest vampires, threatening the whole supernatural community.

Though she wants to stay neutral, Kitty is again drawn into a world of politics and violence. To protect her family, her lover, and herself, she'll have to choose sides. And maybe become what she hates - a killer.

    "Brought me to tears"

I don't cry easily, but Carrie Vaughn's writing, and Margarite Gavin's reading, brought me to sobs during the very touching talk between Kitty and her mother regarding both of their health problems. It was so realistic, as I have been a third person in almost the same situation, and it was so very moving. I, too, have been bitten by Kitty (excuse the pun), and I look forward to every one of her books. As for Margarite Gavin, she reads for several of the series that I am currently hooked on, and she is a primary reason for my addictions! I will listen to her read the phone book. She has a wide range of voices, and knows when to deliver the intonations in her reading. All round- this series is a delight to listen to, as well as a pretty good who-done-it.

    "Loved it!!!!!!"
If you could sum up Kitty and the Silver Bullet in three words, what would they be?

    Touching, Exciting, Reveling!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Kitty and the Silver Bullet?

Near the end when she finally tells Ben she loves him! I was so happy for her!

What about Marguerite Gavin’s performance did you like?

She is awesome....loved her in the Rachel books, and just as much as Kitty!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Denver will never be the same!

    Any additional comments?

This book was the best one yet...starting #5 now! Highly recommend this series....give it a chance...you will love it too!

Love fantasy books, usually with a strong female character. I also enjoyed just about anything from J.D Robb I am a fan of mysteries as well. I also enjoy funny and quirky novels anything from Molly Harper is a winner in my book. Since listening to audio books is important to me while I travel I also follow certain narrators as well.

"Nice addition to the series, added a deeper plot"

Ok, something about the name "Kitty" turned me off this book for about a year, finally I gave into to all the recommendations. I am glad I did. She is funny and so unlucky, it reminds me of Stephanie Plum in Janet Evanovich series, but much much more unlucky. I got hooked quickly and I only have one book left in the series. Each book builds on the last, and average about 7 hours a piece just enough time for Kitty to get herself in trouble and right back out of it again. This is not a deep book but enjoyable just the same. It's light at times, funny, and then serious but not so overwhelming that you can't set it down and come back to it. Its a good light read and the narrator was just perfect for the book, she tells the story in a light enjoyable way, and she has become the voice of Kitty in my mind.

    "Best Book Yet!!"

Kitty books are so well done, they are on my auto-buy list. Love the writing, the characters, AND the narration. As a fan of the series, I must point out--these books definitely have a story arc going, so read them in order. In this book, there were hard decisions made, and some very emotional scenes. Lots of action, Kitty humor, and a satisfying resolution made a nice balance. This may be the best Kitty book yet!

    "Ben is a Badass"
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Most of the time the performance is fine, but there are times it drives me to distraction. Aside from mispronunciations, for some strange reason MG has decided to give Carl a hokey British accent. Then, the accent she uses for a South African is the same as the accent she used in the last book for a Native American. Needless to say it didn't come anywhere near a South African accent.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This is a good addition to the series. Rick comes to visit Kitty to ask her to return to Denver to support him in his bid for Master Vampire. She refuses, but the the next morning, voila, Kitty's mom is sick and she has to return to Denver. That was a little too pat. Kitty takes back her pack. We learn that Rick, who is older than he seems, has some nifty vampire powers. The Long Game is hinted at foreshadowing future plots.

    "This means war!"

    My rating: Teen (violence)
    Favorite character: Kitty's mom

It'll be difficult to write about this book without spoilers, but I'll give it a try. Kitty's family is dealing with personal hardship, and Kitty decides to return to Denver to be with them. She has been kicked out of Denver by the local pack alphas, so she has to keep a very low profile.... You can see where this is going. Kitty? Low profile? Hah!

The vampires are behaving strangely, or MORE strangely, and there is a new vamp in town. She's a famous actress/singer, and she's been on stage for more than 40 years...without aging. She wants to out herself on Kitty's show, so Kitty does the radio show out of the Denver office while the vamp is in town for a concert. The vamp seems so nice, so easy to talk to, so accommodating; fake much? Oh yeah! And Kitty gets mixed up in the middle of it, taking Ben with her. She also decides to help a young wolf with daddy issues, and that can't be good either. Needless to say, Carl and Meg find out she's in Denver, and they're out for blood.

The whole story gets royally mixed up, until it's hard to tell where the good guys are, and Kitty's group of friends have to straighten things out. We even find out more about vampire culture in this one. It's a rip-roaring ride! Very fast-paced and exciting.

    "Lovely!"

Kitty and the Silver Bullet is the climax in the story arc about Kitty taking control of her life, moving from submissive to alpha. When she returns to Denver to help care for her mother, diagnosed with cancer, she has to decide if her previous alpha and vampire politics will force her to run again, or if she'll stay and fight for the life she wants.

As always, Marguerite Gavin is a delight. I think she has a good "radio" voice, which is probably what makes her a great narrator for Kitty.

Kitty is an interesting heroine. She's not your typical kick-ass urban fantasy protagonist. She's strong, but she can also be whiny, self-doubting, and conflict-avoiding. Several reviews I've read call her "weak" or a reluctant heroine, one that can drive some folks crazy with her waffling. In her blog, Vaughn describes Kitty as "a chatty idealist. She wants to think the best of everyone and everything, she believes it is possible to make the world a better place. And she talks. A lot."

In any case, I don't think there are a lot of heroines quite like Kitty in urban fantasy, which is maybe why Kitty comes off as being too weak for some folks. I've enjoyed her, though, and I'm happy that, in Silver Bullet, she finally decides what she wants, fights for it, and wins.

    "Another Fun Read!"

Kitty goes home in this one and ends up facing all the problems she tried to run away from in book 1. Along the way, she makes new friends, faces down old enemies and learns that what you want, what you need and what you eventually get aren't always the same thing. This series is a fun read that's entertaining and easy to follow. The characters in the series continue to evolve and are likeable. I recommend her series for anyone interested in paranormal fantasy books.
