Story
Professor Litefoot and Henry Gordon Jago are accustomed to the murky fog of Victorian London and the palatable pints of half and half at the Red Tavern. They are not used to travelling through time and space with their old friend the Doctor. And now they find themselves whisked off to the planet Venus in the distant future, at a time when warrior women rule from a floating city in the clouds. There’s a mystery here, one that the Grand Empress Vulpina intends to keep secret. Even if it means destroying these visitors from the long-dead planet Earth....

Story
In his first-ever Doctor Who novel, Tom Baker’s incredible imagination is given free rein. A story so epic it was originally intended for the big screen, Scratchman is a gripping, white-knuckle thriller almost 40 years in the making. The Doctor, Harry and Sarah Jane Smith arrive at a remote Scottish island when their holiday is cut short by the appearance of strange creatures - hideous scarecrows who are preying on the local population. The islanders are living in fear, and the Doctor vows to save them all.

Publisher's summary
The continuing adventures of Henry Gordon Jago and George Litefoot, characters first introduced on television in Doctor Who: The Talons of Weng-Chiang (1977), who have become Infernal Investigators, solving mysteries involving paranormal or alien phenomena in 1880s London.
This release features four full-cast audio dramas plus a behind-the-scenes documentary:
1.1 'The Bloodless Soldier', written by Justin Richards and directed by Lisa Bowerman. Featuring Alex Lowe, John Banks, Robin Bowerman and Alex Mallinson. A group of soldiers return from overseas service - but they have brought a terrible evil back with them. As death strikes on the streets of London, Sergeant Quick calls upon the help of Professor Litefoot while an old enemy lurks in the shadows.
1.2 'The Bellova Devil', written by Alan Barnes and directed by Lisa Bowerman. Featuring Stephen Thorne, Duncan Wisbey and Alex Mallinson. A body is found on the Circle Line wearing full dress uniform. It is identified as Reginald Colville - a man who was certified dead some six weeks ago! In an attempt to solve the mystery, Jago and Litefoot become unwilling bodysnatchers....
1.3 'The Spirit Trap', written by Jonathan Morris and directed by John Ainsworth. Featuring Janet Henfrey and Lex Shrapnel. Ellie Higson believes that spiritualist Mrs Vanguard can hear the voices of the dead, but Henry Gordon Jago thinks it's all superstition and theatrical trickery. But if Vanguard is a harmless fake, then why have some of those who have attended her seances disappeared so mysteriously?
1.4 'The Similarity Engine', written by Andy Lane and directed by Lisa Bowerman. When Jago takes a tumble on an unseasonably icy road, he ends up in hospital. But this is no ordinary medical establishment, and the patients are suffering from no ordinary illnesses. At last, the fiendish scheme of Dr Tulp is drawing to its cataclysmic climax.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Story
The Trees is the story of an American family in the wilderness - a family that "followed the woods as some families follow the sea." The time is the end of the 18th century, the wilderness is the land west of the Alleghenies and north of the Ohio River. But principally, The Trees is the story of a girl named Sayward, eldest daughter of Worth and Jary Luckett, raised in the forest far from the rest of humankind, yet growing to realize that the way of the hunter must cede to the way of the tiller of soil.

A well performed, well written audio book.
A well performed, well written audio book. The audio book contains approximately an hour of 'bloat' content which detracts from what could have been a truly great audiobook.

Revisiting two old friends
I first met Jago and Litefoot in their original introduction in the 1970's episodes of Doctor Who. Even then, it was obvious that these two characters needed to be seen again. I am sorry to say that I missed their reintroduction in the Big Finish feature The Mahogany Murderers. (Realizing this, I quickly remedied that issue and that will be my next listen. )
This title contains 4 audio dramas, each about an hour long. Even though decades have passed, the actors bring their characters back to life as if they had never left. The stories have our heroes facing dangers from the supernatural and from science fiction. The title was a joy to listen to. Very little need be known to get into the stories. Simply t

Humorous and entertaining launch of a great spin off series
The creative minds at Big Finish hit gold with the first Companion Chronicle starting Christopher Benjamin and Trevor Baxter as the lovable duo of Henry Jago and Professor Lightfoot. To all our delight they took that success and spun off a new series of full cast audio dramas with these two characters at the fore. The style of writing, the stellar performances, and superb post-production effects and music bring to life a Victorian London that you can almost taste and smell. The easy chemistry between Benjamin and Baxter, and the fun the entire cast and crew had in putting these on, truly comes out in their performances. The follow on interviews were an extra bonus, although a bit long, which makes these plays even more enjoyable. I’m looking forward to continuing on to the next series with sheer pleasure.

Did not enjoy this
What disappointed you about Jago & Litefoot Series 1?
The stories were hard to follow and just plain dull!
What was most disappointing about the authors’s story?
Nonsensical plots, even for a doctor who based story, and poor characters.
Did the narrators do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
No, it is very hard to follow this as it is like a play and not a story.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Jago & Litefoot Series 1?
All of it
Any additional comments?
Don't waste your credit. This is the worst series I have ever listened too.
