Publisher's Summary

Imperium Secundus lies revealed as a heretical folly. Terra has not fallen, though it remains inaccessible. Sanguinius, Guilliman and the Lion El’Johnson, the primarchs of the Triumvirate, must reach Terra at all costs. They seek to defend the Emperor and to atone for their sins.

But the Ruinstorm, a galaxy-wide maelstrom of chaos, hides the Throneworld from the primarchs. Now the fleets of three Legions depart Macragge, and the primarchs will stop at nothing to overcome the Ruinstorm. Yet an insidious enemy watches their every move, and plots against the weaknesses of the errant sons of the Emperor. Each has his own inner storm, and each marches towards his own ruin.

Space Adventure, slash, pew, slash!

Very good, didn’t expect to love it so much. When the trio of Primarchs make it to the giant space castle, oh my. Also, I’m glad that I listened to Damnation at Pythos, I always wondered what was gonna happen with that.

Wait for it...

Pros:
- Snaguinius’ storyline
- Annendale’s absolutely stunning descriptions
- The last hour

Cons:
- The plot leading up to the last hour has the subtlety of a brick
- The Lion and the Avenging Son are both very much out of character

I want to like this book, and I like the end very much. However, the path to that end is full of poorly plotted mishmash where primarchs make nonsensical decisions and chaos is just lazy. I love Annendale’s work, this is not even close to his best.

One of the worst book in HH series.

Was buying all HH books... Up to this point DA ones and Batttle for the Abyss were the worst books in this series, but I think this one can compete with them. If you do not read/listen to this book you are not going to miss anything. The story was as primitive as it can be... Very poor depiction of primarchs.

solid novel

this was most definitely one of the better written and voice read heresy novels. it did a fantastic job of explaining why the lion and the ultra Marines are not present at the siege. Jonathan keeble kills it with his narrating as well. the pacing is good throughout and there is plenty of action to keep you engaged. definitely give it a go

One of the best in the Black Library

Fantastic, grimdark with a sprinkle of hope. Great lore as well, really fleshing out the legends of early Imperium.

Solid book.

The story is a little complex and some what cluttered. It does have some strong sections that are enjoyable. it is worth the time if you are fans of Blood Angels and Dark Angels.

Fight to Terra!

An awesome and amazing book. Great stories and having so many main characters in it makes it that much better.

Sentence after sentence of hyperbole.

Whilst the overall story of the book was good and tied some loose ends up, the execution was very poor. Every line was over the top, so when it got to some climaxes I was underwhelmed. the author forgets that less is more, and that the characters make the books compelling. the narrator was fantastic yet again. Final plot view without spoilers: the end with Kurze didn't make sense from a military standpoint even with the emphasis on fate.

Damnation of Pythos 2: Electric Boogaloo.

I honestly don't know who approved this but they want to to be shot. I honestly can say this is the most boring book in the entire series. It's so slow. I get that weapons have names but He sounds like a kid trying to pad a word count by the amount of times he puts "the blade encarmine" etc It's unnecessary.

Honestly found it quite boring and not gripping.

Struggled with this book. I love the Horus Heresy Series but this one is my least favourite, feeling like its just pushing action down your throat for no reason other than action. I think it's the pacing I have issue with.

Awful Story

This is a typical Annandale story, the characters HAVE no character and the story is incredibly boring, I have this as a book and was so fed up reading it I got the audio book and it STILL bores me to tears 😂

An overblown mess

This novel should have been a novella at best. The author seemed to have an ending but had no solid story to get there. The language is a hyperbolic mess and it is full of set pieces that are so ridiculous in their scale that they lose any meaning as they vie to trump each other again and again.

I’m glad I can return the book and get my credit back because this novel is a chore that adds nothing of real worth to the series.
The voice actor does his best but I’d never listen to this bloated mess ever again.

Weak by the standards of the rest of the series

At this point in the Heresy series this particular book is a bitter disappointment. So much of the story starts with pure filler battles to bulk out the book, and by the time it actually gets to a point where meaningful content and plot from the Heresy makes itself known the 3 Primarchs are written to seem about as smart as the 3 stooges. Possibly the worst non anthology book in the series yet.

Good characters, average story

This has been described Primarch bro trip and the interactions between Guilliman, Sanguinius and Jonson are mint.

On the other hand, the plot itself is nothing to write home about. It’s needed to wrap up the Imperium Secundus Arc, and aside from some nice set-pieces, there’s nothing extraordinary here.

As for the writing style, it’s got more hyperbole than usual for a Horus Heresy book but that didn’t really bother me.

Overall, a decent book carried by it’s characters. 3/5

A good listen..

Really enjoyed this one. I think because it has 4 Primarch's involved. If your a fan of Jonathan Keeble's narrations then you'll enjoy this. Helped me get through a lot of decorating 😉

Unmissable Action and Advancement

Imperium Secundus is over. The Triumvirate forges ahead in an attempt to reach Terra. The trials are unforseen, unexpected and beyond imagination. The Avenging Son, The Lion and The Angel all face their own tests and challenges brought by Chaos. All narrated by Keeble at his best! Can't miss this one!

The worst Horus Heresy Novel

This novel is a contraindication as it feels bloated as it repeats itself over and over and yet is one of the shortest in the HH series. If the author was struggling with the length maybe he should have written a second draft or at least written a B storyline

A forgettable Odyssey

A somewhat stumbling journey of three Primarchs banging into daemonic obstacles over and over till a final battle.

A couple of good moments, and some decent fluff reveals for Blood Angels fans, but the story was pretty dull IMO. A story with three Primarchs and it was lacking character and excitement.

If you enjoy the random "Its the warp, this is crazy but go with it" over and over that the HH series seems to love lately, you might enjoy it more than me.
