Beginning of the End

While not the last Heresy novel the breaking of Beta Garmon was so pivotal to the story! I am a huge fan of titan conflicts and the Blood Angels! So having them both star in this was amazing. Getting to see the different plot points come together from before like Horus’ wound from Leman Russ’ attack in the Vengeful Spirit. Very excited to read the conclusion of the heresy and the siege!!

If you like titans this is the book for you

Great buckets of delicious titan lore ooze from this work.
The narration is also on point.
Will ve re-listeling to this soon.

Great depth in many places.

I was rather disappointed about only 1 thing, when the HUGE Titan battle happened... it was too short. I would of expected like 2 chapters of that battle, instead it is far too simple, especially when other battles are explained fantastically.

Interesting for its titan lore

A good story, a couple of superfluous primarch chapters (needed more or none) but otherwise a good read

Love it!

This book is the epitome of total war. From Nanobot warfare all the way to Imperator titans, this book is war unhinged & unrestricted.

And a lot of personal strife and conflicts added too

Diving into the grains of the machine cult.

While this is not the entry level parlance dictionary into the heresy you might be looking for:
The premise that this is supposedly 'the worst book of the Horus Heresy' seems to be predicated on it following a Marshall Sorority within the mechanicus and collegia titanica.
As we get a deeper look into the world of the dark mechanicum, the intercollegiate politics of the crusade and biological childrearing within the cult. All the while fleshing out the khan, dorn sanguinius and Malcador and giving us a last check in with both horus and legio Mortis.
I can only surmise that the view that this book focuses solely on missable characters could only be sourced from someone either wilfully overlooking, or being entirely ignorant of the Transhumanist nature and implications of that within the mechanicus. As well as the importance of the primarchs involved in the conflict.

A True Masterpiece

This is one of my all time favorite Heresy books. It is such a good look into the Titan legios and how chaos titans came to be. Additionally this book breaks down the battle for Beta Garmon. I can’t praise this book enough, it is truly one of the best. Legio first.

The Legio walks

Haley gives us a different take on the battles of the heresy; more human stories with some light seasoning in the usual suspects of primarchs and space marines. Keeble does well with a broad cast of character types without going over the top.

If you want more varied pacing, grander scale battles, and more human concerns as a refresher in your heresy reading, along with a couple chuckles: ✅

If you want space marines and transhumans smacking each other For a few hours (totally valid): ❌

pretty good

liked all of it besides the primarch parts. they felt like they did not belong nor flow with the book. felt jarring. everything else was good though.
