The story is sooooooo good.

I’ve read a similar story, wink wink, and I loved this one just as much. I looked on Goodreads to see when the second installment is schedule to come out, and right now it’s projected for December 2026. Torture! It will be torture waiting that long. The narrator was great too. She had a good voice range and I enjoyed all the different voiced she did for all of the different characters.

Amazing narrator!

Really loved this narrator’s voice and her expressions were really nicely done throughout the story.

Best book I've read in this genre in a while!

I've been binging romantasy for a while and liked a lot, but this one was different. I usually just listen while driving, but with this I would listen all evening and finished it in 3 days. The story and details were well thought out but also not hard to follow. The character development was perfect using the flashback chapters. The story had the perfect amount of "romance" without feeling forced and compromising the characters. I look forward to the 2nd book!!!

Intriguing and captivating

Loved it! This books character development was excellent. The story is intriguing and captivating. It left me wanting more.

Just spend that credit - this is an upcoming canonical Romantasy series

Let me preface this by saying, I read/listen to a lot of romantasy, dark romance, E2L, etc. Like many of us who do, I have my favorite series that I could listen to on repeat. There are also many I DNF because they’re too redundant & I’ve guessed 1+ major plot twist. This book was not among them - I could barely stop listening. I love Briony, her POV was perfect! She’s fiery, intelligent, brave - just an inherently good FMC. I felt like a was with her, rooting for her - a woman among her, silently revolting. This story made me feel all the things - including rage, disgust, sadness - it’s not for everyone, but the triggering parts are done with a tact I appreciated. I love it and can’t wait for the next book. Get it, you won’t be sorry.

Great performance, solid story, not sure about some worldbuilding choices.

The plot and characters are solid, although some of the choices regarding world building and the magic system are a little questionable. it's only book one of a trilogy though so maybe we just need to wait for more details to be given to us. The Narrator did an incredible job and I'll definitely be picking up the next book day one.

A Must Read!

Julie Soto is a fabulous story teller. I am in love with how she transformed this story.

Story is good but intense

It was u comfortable to read b/c it had handmade’s tale vibes and I usually wouldn’t read such books b/c of the trigger warnings. Elliot Brooks said this was going to be a book everyone was anticipating to read so I gave it a shot. The story was very good and I can’t wait to see what happens but some of the scenes were too much for me.

From start to finish this was SO GOOD. I read and listened but the narration really amplified the story for me!

Great fantasy romance book that had me hooked!

The world building, character development and pacing was all done very well. I think Soto did an especially wonderful job with emotion in this book. I really felt for the main character and her plight. I can’t wait for the next book!
