Good but not sure I'll continue the series

I enjoyed Promised in Fire. I think the female narrator, Bridget Bordeaux, was great. The male narrator was a bit too intense and it was kind of a distraction for me from the story. I was thinking in my mind more about the narrator than the story. However, the male narrator did soften his tone later in the book, making it less of an issue towards the end.

Elements I enjoyed were: slow burn (it's realllllly slow); hidden magic; hidden origins/past; world building; fated mates; a dark essence threatening everyone; variety of magic.

Definitely worth the listen

Unexpected plot twist and great banter. The narration is beautifully done and we have a protective and broody MMC.

Stop at first book

I just finished the third book and the 2nd/3rd were so hard. This series could be 2 books max. Save yourself and stop after book one. It has almost zero spice, and the story grasps for straws and is drawn out.

Started good but romance was out of nowhere

I was invested and felt bought into the characters until the lover came into the picture. He came in way too much too fast. There wasn’t any romantic buildup. He woke up, saw her for the first time, and became spicy out of nowhere. It ruined the book for me. I like spice, but let it build up first

fantastic story building

wow, if your a fan of SJM or any other fantasy romance writer who can build a great story, this series is for you. Magic, dragons, some suspense, fated mates, enemies to lovers, cat and mouse, a little touch-her-and-die, Strong FML

This was a fun ride and I loved everything bit of it .

I love the sides characters they are so fun. I loved the action and the very powerful strong female lead that does not wine about stupid stuff and is actually very smart and compassionate and likable. Her moody male lead is also brody but very supportive of her even when he doesn't want to be and let's her take charge. I like there slow burn 🔥. the Narrators are both amazing with conversations style narration which is really nice so all male and female voices are narrated by the male and female Narrators. No female narrator trying to narrator a males voice for example. It can be alittle slow at times but it picks up

Hooks you

Loved the book!!I am obsessed with ACOTAR and Fourth wing and this is the first book since them I have actually wanted to finish. Great read. Not my favorite narrators but you get use to them.

Amazing and entertaining

The performance was amazing and the story was written really well, Even if there was a few predictable outcomes, it still had a lot of twists and turns and you could really feel the characters emotions in the performance.

The narrator voice is hard to listen to

I did not enjoy how this book was narrated. I think the tone was very forced and very the accent very hard to swallow

A bit juvenile

The writing was a bit on the juvenile side and the FMC a bit too petulant for my liking. I could see lots of good thoughts that just weren’t flushed out well. Things just fell into place too easily and conveniently to be believable, even in a fantasy world. Seemed like a writers first draft of their first novel. I’ve already purchased the rest so I hope they get better.
