Publisher's Summary

On the mountain, the watcher seeks out evil women. And then they die.

Two years ago, when Jake Hunt uncollared his slave, she committed suicide. Guilt-ridden, he will commit to a woman for one night only, devoting his energy to a mountain lodge that caters to a BDSM crowd.

Kallie Masterson is tough. Unwanted as a child, she worked hard to become a wilderness guide. She's proud of who she is, and hurt that Jake frowns on her for acting like a man.

After rescuing the macho guide from a bar fight, Jake is stunned that the ugly men's clothing hides a warm, responsive woman. A submissive woman. When guide business brings her to the lodge on BDSM night, and she is obviously aroused by the play, Jake takes the little sub right into his world of pain and pleasure. He warns her: one night only. But she responds so beautifully - so joyously - under his command, that one night soon becomes two, then three... Then a missing hiker reminds Jake of his past lover, and he realizes he's become too involved. He pulls back.

Meanwhile, the watcher on the mountain has rendered his verdict: Kallie Masterson is evil. The sentence: death.

Hot with an element of mystery!!

What made the experience of listening to Master of the Abyss the most enjoyable?

Between the fantastic writing and the amazing narration, this book was definitely one of my favorite audiobooks.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the mystery behind the man who was stalking Kallie when she had no idea he was. I loved how Wen Ross performed him. So creepy!

Which character – as performed by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross – was your favorite?

I loved Jake and Kallie. Their chemistry was undeniable no matter how much they tried to deny it.

Any additional comments?

I loved this book and I am dying to listen to more in the series. The Mountain Masters are hot!! Cherise Sinclair has quickly become one of my favorite authors and I cannot wait to see what else she has in store.

Narrating is awful!

The narrators voices were fine but the exchanges of narrators were way too fast. Story line was just ok.

narrators ruined the book

I really can't stand these two narrators, their voices are annoying, their acting skills are terrible, it's like listening to high schoolers put on their first play. I would have preferred to read the hard copy myself.

male narrator

I have read reviews about Wen Ross and what a great narrator how is...I disagree. He reads these dominant male roles and his voice does not sound masculine at all. Just not a good match for the books that I've read with him narrating. The voice doesn't fit the character, which makes it difficult for me to read.

This audible book was so worth the wait!!

I have read this amazing book by Ms Sinclair a number of times but bringing it to audible made the book even better. I LOVED the performance from such talented individuals (sorry I have been up all night and I am to lazy to get your names. I couldn't stop listening) anyway the only criticism I have is I am a slow reader so it seemed a little rushed but other than that it was AMAZING!! I do hope Ms Sinclair continues to use you for the rest of the books. Thanks for such a wonderful performance. You made my day.

Master of the Mountain

Jake has a not so secret lifestyle and Kallie has wanted him for so long. Jake doesn’t give her the time of day, she doesn’t even dress like a girl so why would he. Kallie lives with her male cousins and has a family job as a tour guide in the mountains so she dresses for the part. Then their worlds collide and the BDSM lifestyle becomes very interesting to her. This story is very hot!

A Steamy BDSM Romance That Thrills & Titillates!

Would you listen to Master of the Abyss again? Why?

Yes, because the performances were so engaging and Cherise Sinclair is the Grand Dame of BDSM romance! I fell instantly in love with Jake and Kallie from the onset and their chemistry was palpable! I enjoyed the sizzling sparks, the way they played off one another, their delightful push-pull and of course the bdsm scenes were smoking hot! I also loved how the characters worked through their PROBLEMS together. Jake was the PERFECT dom--a powerful and commanding ALPHA male with a strong protective streak. He was uber dominant in the bedroom but also exquisitely gentle and tender and sensitive to Kallie's needs throughout. He was not a tyrant in the least and it was all about making sure his "Little Sprite" felt cared for and safe and cherished. I SWOONED throughout and he made me wish for a night of bliss as his precious submissive! And Kallie was a sassy spitfire that lit up every scene! She was a fiercely independent tomboy but she had grown a tough outer shell over the years as a self-defense mechanism to cover her abandonment issues. Her kind, infinitely patient and intuitive Dom tapped into her aching vulnerability and her feminine side! And I thought the serial killer storyline was woven very well into the plot to add dramatic urgency to the story. Ms. Sinclair knows how to spin a tale that is both scintillating but also incredibly emotional! I love how she always delves deep into the psyches and hearts and souls of her characters so it's a never "just" about bdsm play! This book just had everything I look for in a steamy romance erotica...sizzling passion, tender-hearted romance, naughty kink, oodles of heart, witty banter, a warm undercurrent of humor and beloved characters who truly belong together!

What did you like best about this story?

Umm..everything? But what I loved best was how all the men in Kallie's life (Jake, Logan and her fiercely macho cousins) were all so doting and protective of her. It warmed my heart to see them all band together and the emotional intervention that Jake staged with Kallie and her cousins at the end to get to the bottom of Kallie's abandonment issues, which resulted in a huge emotional breakthrough, was deeply moving!

What does Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I just LOVE their duet narration! These actors have amazing chemistry together and they just brought the characters of Kallie and Jake to life for me. I adore their line delivery, their breezy banter and the way they make you FEEL every emotion that the characters are experiencing!. Plus, Wen's voice and his deep, rumbly chuckle always causes delicious shivers to race up and down my spine!! I could literally listen to him all day long!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Danger and Decadent Delight Abound in the Rugged Wilderness!

Any additional comments?

A fantastic audio that enthralled and delighted from start to finish!
