Publisher's summary

"Put Victoria with two Alpha brothers, and wow, oh wow, your socks will be knocked off."

First a Marine, then a black ops agent, Victoria Morgan knows the military is where she belongs...until a sniper's bullet changes her life. Trying to prove she's not washed up, she rescues a young man from kidnappers. When the dying boy transforms into a cougar - and bites her - she learns of an entire hidden society. He begs her to inform his grandfather of his death and to keep the secret of the shifters' existence. She can't refuse, but what if the creatures pose a danger to the country she swore to protect?

As guardian of the shifter territory, Calum McGregor wields the power of life and death over his people. When a pretty human female arrives in their wilderness town, he and his littermate become increasingly concerned. Not only is the little female hiding something, but she is far more appealing than any human should be.

While investigating the shifters, Victoria begins to fall in love with the werecat brothers and the town as well. For the first time in her life, she might have a real home. Her hopes are crushed when a deadly enemy follows her from the city, and the shifters discover she knows their secret. Now nobody is safe - least of all Victoria.

Critic reviews

"HOUR OF THE LION was simply amazing. Hot hunky shifter men, a strong and sassy heroine, a gripping story, and some oh so lovely ménage action are just the tip of the iceberg in this phenomenal read! A Top Pick and 5 Stars." (The Romance Reviews)

Entertaining Series, Excellent Narration

I've repeatedly enjoyed all of Cherise Sinclair's series and stories. They're great romantic suspense. She provides entertaining surprises and hooks as well as excellent background in each story.
Most of her novells are erotic BDSM romances; however, the 4 books of this series with supernatural characters have a different take from the average "alpha-weres" as they include a bit of mythology and ancient beliefs in each. The suspense continues to be well written.
What makes her stories absolutely rock is the narration of Noah Michael Levine & Erin DeWard. Both are good narrators with a wide variety of voices. However, what makes them so fantastic is that they actually do simultaneous narration instead of the awful concept of "alternating chapters" most combo narrators provide. They make each character spring to life. To top it off, the editing is superb!

FINALLY! - An audio book done right

I really like Cherise Sinclair's Wild Hunt Series. No only have I purchased the books but I was really excited that the audio version had come out for the 1st in the series. This audio version is fantastic. Imagine - having a male wonderful voice actually narrate all the male voices and a female voice narrate all the female voices! What a wonderful and unique idea (heavy sarcasm). Why this has not been done before - I really am at a loss.

I really enjoy having the audio versions of my favorite books to listen to while driving, doing chores or working in the yard. It makes the work go quicker - this is the first audio book that really brings the characters to life.

Now about the story: (I never recap a story just state what I like or dislike. The description of the book does a good enough job.)

Great character development which makes it easy to picture the characters in the reader's mind. The reader comes to know the characters - what they look like, what drives that character, the characters' inner strengths and weaknesses.

Great world building. Enough so that the reader can, again, picture the landscape and rules of the imaginary world but not so much that the story becomes bogged down and tedious.

Absolutely great plot with NO Plot holes, no hitting the reader over the head with the same information given over and over, and no dumbing down by treating the reader as if the reader is unable to understand basic ideas. This is an adult book written for adults.

This is a PNR with just enough romance and build up of the romance to make it hot but not so much that it overshadows the plot. This is not a story for anyone looking for a "Mary Sue" waiting for her "knight in shining armor" kind of tale. The female characters are strong and there are not any TSTL moments.

This is about shifters - people who can shift into animals. So if you are NOT into paranormal romances - don't buy this book. It also has some explicit love making scenes, some bloody action scenes and some swearing. It does fit the action scenes and the plot. Again, this is an adult book and no you will not want to read it to the kids as a bedtime story.

The book was totally engrossing and I did not want to stop reading it until the very last word. Warning - the audio is also totally engrossing making it hard to hit the pause or stop button.

Could have been good.

The underlining story was absorbing but the sex scenes just went on and on to the point that it destroyed the book. I wish an editor would have stripped 90% of them.

Should have been good, but.........

It felt like the author started out wanting to write a great story, (and her writing style and world building are good), and then she just sort of got side tracked describing sex scenes instead. The sex scenes are fine for what they are, but they just get a bit tedious because there isn’t enough character development or spark between the couple, or in this case, couples, and there is way to much of the story devoted to sex. The men were pretty flat characters, just sort of there to ‘manage’ the heroines sexual needs, on their terms of course.
What started out promising, just got boring.
Erin was a great reader but Noah was not a great fit at all - I didn’t even like his male voices.
Overall I was pretty disappointed that what could have been a great story fell flat.

Loved the duel narration

Story was okay, up to the point of the VERY lengthy sex scenes. For me, it took away from he story.
The Calum character was too weird for me, Alec was okay, and Joe, The boys grandfather was great.
Won’t be downloading any other books from this author. I like shifter books, but this one was gross for me.

The narration was one of the best duel narrations I’ve heard. Never understood why male narrators didn’t do all the male voices and female narrator doing all female voices. A+

Great start to a new series

Love the characters. They had depth, a truly great visual read. The middle drag just a little, but was still great. Looking forward to the next audiobook. The reason why I gave 4 stars was , like many authors, Ms. Sinclair s " Hour of the Lion", was a first audiobook listen for me, she made the ending way to quick. I really hate when authors do that. She gave a lot for the beginning, middle, but half, if that, of a chapter for the ending.

OK, I was so ready for a new series. This is it.

I've read Alexandra Ivy, the Black Dagger books and sequels, Illona Anders innkeeper books (ready for another one of those soon) and a dozen others multiple times. I was so ready for another series and now I've found one. I love multiple narrators even if one is really good. I also love shifter books (Jane Yellowrock). Take a chance and dive into an edgy new strong female series with Cherise Sinclair.

Great start to a new series.

New Author for me. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Narration smooth and easy with verbal demarcation of each character easy to differentiate. A few hanky sodden moment's. Builds a fantacy world with some twists that were original. Pleasently surprised by this new to me Author. Pretty graphic. Mature readers only. Humor was a great respite. Had a strong Heroine that I truely liked.

Love this series!

This series is absolutely amazing and I’m thrilled to finally see it on audible. The narration is spectacular, with both male and female narrators. Plot and action is great, and the sex ace
