Maria too is recovering from a haunted past - she was kidnapped and held hostage by a rogue Shifter and then disowned by her family when she was set free. Now she's on her own but is determined to put her life back together and leave Shiftertown for good.

But someone is attempting to abduct Shifter cubs, and Maria and Ellison know they must stop him. As Maria works with Ellison to track down the kidnapper, she finds her heart slowly awakening once more. And Ellison realizes that Maria may be just the one to bring light back into his life . . .

Each is different but connected

I’m still enjoying this series. I was glad to see that each character had a part, even tiger who grew up in a lab. Very creative

Great Story!

I love this story. Of course, I've read it before, but this is my first time listening to the audiobook. I've loved Jennifer Ashley's Shifters Unbound series for years, but now with Cris Dukehart bringing a bit of newness, a little bit more life to it with her narration, it's like experiencing it for the first time all over again. Ellison has been a favorite of mine since book one when he was first introduced. With his Texas twang and gentlemanly ways, he's one of the best and most surprising characters. He's so sweet, friendly and playful that, when he gets mad, his anger is shocking. Maria, having experienced the worst the shifter world has to offer is understandably hesitant about trusting anyone, especially males, but with Ellison she's always felt safe. I'm really glad these two have found peace with one another and I look forward to hearing more about them in future books.
Also, I can't wait to see who Broderick winds up with. His female is going to be a fireball, I can see it now.
Well done to both the author, Jennifer Ashley, and the narrator, Cris Dukehart, for a job very well done.
Off to read the next book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book

I loved the book.
The narrator is great and has a very good spanish accent.
I took my time to listen to this book because life gets in the way ...

Ellison and Maria

I've loved Ellison from the first book in the series and was so glad to see him finally get the girl. He's had to step aside as one friend after another finds their mate while he looks on. We finally get to see the details of his life and family and why this Colorado transplant has taken on being full Texan. Maria impresses me with her determination to make a better life for herself. She's been abducted, abused, had her heart broken, and been rejected by her family and yet she stands strong.
