Publisher's summary

Everything can change in a heartbeat.Hunter Roswell thought she had left her past behind. But her carefully structured world starts to fall apart when a serial killer connected to her past emerges from the shadows and begins stalking her. Already responsible for the deaths of five women, the killer now has Hunter firmly in his sights. And he’s picked a target date - the night of October’s full moon - also known as the blood moon or hunter’s moon.

Sara Wilder, a psychologist and former FBI profiler, is brought in to help Hunter unravel the connection between her past and a ruthless killer. But as the search for the killer intensifies, both women find themselves struggling with an unexpected and undeniably mutual attraction. In a race against time, can they survive a killer who is willing to use anything - even love - to further his own agenda?

Stupid leads

What would have made Hostage Moon better?

If the leads in the book weren't such morons, that you actually want them to get killed

Would you ever listen to anything by A. J. Quinn again?

i might if it is just a romance and isn't about supposedly smart people

Have you listened to any of Bernadette Dunne’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Ii didn't, but it was good

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Hostage Moon?

Every single one with main characters acting like unruly children

Any additional comments?

there is nothing worse than 'smart' characters that every single thing they do or say is wrong.

A very immature story read as well as it could be

What disappointed you about Hostage Moon?

First this should be billed erotica/mystery rather than a mystery with a love story. The writing was adequate, the plot absurd, though I could have suspend my disbelief if the characters and the development had not been so outrageous and adolescent. It felt like I was reading the fantasy musings of a teenager.

What was most disappointing about A. J. Quinn’s story?

Though Quinn desperately tried to write a love story between the two main characters it did not come together that way. The character of Hunter is an adolescent ideal, rendered all that much more immature by the cliche sturm and drang of her damaged emotional state. This combined with the way to over the too over the top descriptions of their attraction and subsequent physical relationship made the story feel like it was conceived by a teenager. There was no depth to the characters so there was not depth or resonance with the story, and a ince there were no connections made by the characters, the loose absurdity of the plot was exposed.

What about Bernadette Dunne’s performance did you like?

She read the words she had as well as could have been expected. Kudos to her.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

If you like over done erotica a couple chapters may suit.

Any additional comments?

I would advise against this book

Strong Beginning Wasted

I was entranced by the first half of this audiobook. This was despite the characters inside this selection; outside of Hunter; were thinly drawn. Unfortunately the story collapsed under the weight of plot contrivances in the second part of this work. In the true nature of the romance writer the romance moves at the glacial pace that reflected an earlier era rather than the hook-up culture of the modern era.
In the end I can't recommend this selection. A.J. Quinn is a talented writer. However she needs to speed up the storyline if she is going to make a successful transition from Romance writer to the Mystery/ Thriller genre.

AWFUL

What would have made Hostage Moon better?

A better plot. More truthful advertising. Not a mystery but a lesbian love story.

What could A. J. Quinn have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Nothing. I would not have purchased it had I realized how poorly written it was.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Bernadette Dunne?

Narrator was good.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Just a love story advertised as mystery.

Any additional comments?

Don't buy it.

Don't waste your credit

This is one of the worse books I ever tried to listen to. There was very little story. Most of it was describing the attraction between the two female lead characters, with the actual story thrown in occasionally. If it had just been an occasional explicit sex scene, I could have fast forwarded through them. That's what I usually do. Yeah, I guess I'm a prude. But if you do like those scenes, you'll still be disappointed. Just on and on and on, describing each one's thoughts about how sexy the other was. I was wishing they'd go ahead and get to it, so I could fast forward and get to an actual storyline. I tried to hang in there but gave up about two thirds through.

not that good.

This story is kinda disappoint. Story line is boring and lack of the chemistry between two main characters. It doesn't interesting as it describes in synopsis.

Deceptive!

Would you try another book from A. J. Quinn and/or Bernadette Dunne?

No.

What was most disappointing about A. J. Quinn’s story?

The romance was between women.

What didn’t you like about Bernadette Dunne’s performance?

Flat.

What character would you cut from Hostage Moon?

All of them.

Any additional comments?

I stopped listening when I realized that the romance was between 2 women. The synopsis gave no clue to the stories most important content. I should have read All of the reviews.
