Publisher's Summary

An alluring merman whose dark blue gaze tempts her like a siren's call...

Levi Devlin is a chef and owner of the popular seafood restaurant Poseidon's Trident. Levi only has one rule for his customers to follow: Don't waste food. Because Levi will literally throw out anyone who doesn't follow this rule he's earned the nickname The Brawler Chef. The last thing on Levi's mind was falling in love with a human female but when fate causes his path to cross with action heroine Vivien Tempest he's shark bait.

A dazzling actress who blinds him like the sun, and is as unreachable...

Vivien Tempest strives to be acknowledged as a serious actress. Unfortunately, the action heroine has been typecast as a zombie killer. When Director Maverick offers her the chance to play a free-spirited princess in The Little Merman, Vivien knows this is her big chance! Which is why when Vivien discovers Levi's secret - that he's a merman - she instantly blackmails him into starring in the movie with her as the merprince.

And the handsome actor with a sensuous smile who comes between them...

Dylan Black became an actor in order to gain money, power, and millions of worshipping humans, er, fans at his feet - and he succeeded. However, in order to accomplish his ultimate endgame he needs to find the right woman to fall in love with. When he sees that Levi has set his sights on Vivien, he knows that she must be special and intends to steal her away. But in the end can money really buy love?

enjoyable

although it was enjoyable, the middle seemed to drag on, it got kinda boring. I think the other side stories cluttered it up. the beginning was great. the ending seemed very unfinished. I think it was supposed to be a cliff hanger but it didn't feel finished to me.
the narration was good but I think that one character in particular has had every narrator in the three books I've listened to pronounce his name differently which makes it hard to remember who they are speaking about.
I will however listen to another book in the series just to get more from the characters. I really like this world of the fallen who require a judge to redeem their soul! I would still recommend it to get the complete stories of all the characters in this fictional world.

Magical performance

I didn't care much for the plot but the performance was magical! I definitely recommend if you are into the cheesy romance novels even in the slightest!

Awesome book!

This is definitely a book for merman lovers! The writing was just as good as ever! leaves just enough to the imagination! Levi having such a tortured past, and being so strong, naive, and his purity of innocence is an amazing character to follow. The narrators voice is perfect for this roll. His voice was perfect to show both the strength and chaos inside Levi. Justin's voice makes it much easier to see how hard Levi's struggle to survive in our world is. Although it starts out a little slowly, it picks up quickly. And as always Kurokoneko leaves us with a great cliffhanger ending!

Unique twist on the paranormal

This Audio was unique in the story itself. The narrator did a good job as Levi. It’s a very unique and interesting take on Hollywood, love, and the paranormal. It was and easy listen and I found myself laughing quite a bit. The characters were developed throughout the story though flashbacks and present day accounts. It was refreshing to have the male lead being the virgin. The author has a great imagination and definitely takes you on a roller coaster of adventure. It will be great to hear the follow up story.

good book!

I received this book for free.
I did enjoy the story quite a bit & loved all the characters in it. The author has a wonderful & creative imagination. The choice for voice actor was fantastic, I really enjoyed his ability to change accents & sound accurate. The reason for the 4 star on the story is that there were quite a few places where the story lagged & I felt frustrated listening to it at times.

Phenom Merman Life Story

The most amazing story ever written. A hidden gem by KuroKoneko Kamen! And the narration by Justin Cipriano Usle is win-plus!

As mermen are rarely ever given a full stage, Hollywood Merman combines all of the greats such as X-Men, King Kong (classic), Tarzan, Planet of the Apes - to name a few. It portrays the immortal life story of Levi Devlin from his beginnings out of the sea to the surface world among humans. His struggles are universal and as realistic as a man living in a world that opposed his existence.

Without giving away the ending, I will say it is remarkable with a twist as much as the journey there. I am so gratified to have discovered this masterpiece. ♥

no

DNFed at the end of chapter 4, that's 20% or so.

I hate to do this, because I won the book and I feel bad hitting the author with a one-star. That Aubible code could have gone to someone who would have more enjoyed it. But I just can't finish this book. I tried, I really did. It is too ridiculous. Random things happening to random people who randomly appear and randomly disappear. Cheesy writing. It's bad. For a little while I listened and laughed, enjoying it in a 'it's so bad it's good' sort of way. But that was short-lived.

Judging by the fact that I caught my 10yo daughter following me around at one point while I was listening to it, I can maybe say I would like it if I was younger. But I just don't think even that would save this for me. I realize the author states that she writes anime-style books and I should have maybe been warned, but even anime-style books need pacing and to make sense. This one does not. Yes, I can see it animated in a crazy shonen style, and that might work. But not as a book one wishes to actually read (or listen to).

Lastly, I'm iffy about the pen name KuroKoneko Kamen. The author isn't Japanese, as far as I can tell, and taking a name like that and writing in a classically Japanese style feels very appropriative to me. All in all, I have to apologize for even entering the giveaway to start with. I'm that bad a match for this book.

Hollywood merman

This book certainly had an interesting concept. did enjoy this book but it started out really slow for me. I couldn't keep focused on it and kept putting it down. It did finally pick up and I enjoyed it so much more the further I got into the book. I love the idea of a merman trying to hide his identity while portraying a merman in a movie.
