Not there for me

I really wanted to love this book, however I found myself wanting to throw Isabella out the story more than once. Unfortunately her whiney, negative behaviour did not do it for me. I totally understand her wanting to be independent, but there were moments when her competitive nature turned me off and I couldn't see why James would want to stay through it all. I liked James, he was steady, sure and patient when she had her flipping out moments though and stayed through it all.

Not exactly sure about the forbidden stepbrother angle as really their parents had only gotten married after these two had met and had a whole relationship, there was nothing forbidden there as again they were adults meeting at a job, whose parents happen to have gotten together on holiday as it were. This again happened halfway through the story.

The narration did not work for me either as sometimes it fell flat and I just wanted to stop. Hearing the story read actually showed up how much Isabella was an annoyance, so in that sense the narrator got Isabella correct.

My Two Pennies

Im going with a 3.7 and rounding up to 4, I really enjoyed this story and it kept my attention. Isabella is set on becoming a doctor and has always been at the top of her class. When she starts to intern at the hospital she becomes very close with James rather quickly, she's not one to have a social life and has always been focused on her studies. It's a quick read but it's a good one, we get a little bit of a twist thrown it which I was getting the vibes of earlier on. This is a sexy and sweet book with an ending that will leave you satisfied on the events. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Grey's Anatomy meets Saving Hope

I loved this story. The way the characters slowly fall in love. I laughed. I sighed. At one point I wanted to cry. Megan did an amazing job narrating as she tends to do. Highly recommend this if you want a short happy story

Great Listen

I went in with preconceived notions on how this was going to be written. I was so wrong. Happily, there's a lot of story versus just a bunch of sex. This is a the type of book I put on just before going to bed and then wind up staying up listening to since it's not a real long listen, but good enough to keep me up.

As always, superb narration by Meghan Kelly. She definitely adds life to the story.

The cat fell asleep, but don't hold that against her.... she liked it, she's just lazy. 4 paws up 🐾🐾🐱

great quick read/listen

I really liked this book, it was a quick one compared to my regular books but it was great! I would recommend it. the narration was fabulous and the writing was good. I really liked the characters. it was nice to have a capable female lead that didn't need rescuing.

Felt that the language wasn't needed and too much sex that didn't need to be explained

James and Isabella

Great romance by Stephanie Brother. This story was hot and grabbed me in from the beginning. The book kept my attention throughout. This story has no cliffhangers and no cheating, which I love. It also has an HEA which is great. Check it out – you will not be disappointed.

enjoyable

Enjoyable to listen to loved the narrator.
Now I'm all for a strong female, but this one refuses to learn from her mistakes or admit when she is wrong. To me a person is stronger when they grow from their mistakes and realizing when others know better.

This is not your normal stepbrother romance I know what I expected but it sure wasn’t what I got. I really love this narrator and wanted to give this a listen. What I expect was some very dirty story line about hooking up and not much else. This was a refreshing story line after the fact, they hooked up before they found out they were related which really adds to the story. There are some very hot and heavy sex scenes which adds heat to the read but it isn’t done in a dirty way that makes it more porn..it is wrote in a way that really blends well with the story of two people who are attracted to each other with a strong pull and them working out how they feel and what they want in a career that can be trying for a relationship. It has a great plot, wonderful sex scenes that really have meaning pulling the reader in with some very hard trying times and issues.

Ms. Kelly’s narration is outstanding she really pulls you in with her tones and voices with real emotions. There are no repeats of words, no place where the volume is higher or lower than any other place in the audio. The character voices are good, tones are great, and you have no trouble knowing who is talking or what they are feeling. The male voices are just as good as the female ones. Ms. Kelly’s performance is great with a very pleasant voice. There was no background noise or any echo’s all you get is a rich even tone audio that delivers a wonderful listen. She really hooks me from the start to finish.

What I really liked about this was it was not your normal stepbrother story. The sexy was hot but not over baring. Isabella was an ok character but I thought at times a little whinny. I thought with the way the story was written she made too much of a big deal over the stepbrother issues. I loved James and the supporting characters I thought they brought a lot to the story. I thought the ending was rushed and left out some things that would have made it more interesting. It kind of left me hanging did they work or not, I know they are for now but what about years down the road. All in all it was a good read that I honestly enjoyed.

I enjoyed the narration of this book yet I did not enjoy the book as much as I thought I would. While Meghan Kelly is a wonderful narrator I felt as if the storyline made it a 4 star book audio. The storyline was a bit slow for me however it was an original storyline.
