Publisher's summary

Down and Out focuses on relationship and personal struggles for Dive more than the MC side of things. You will find out why in the first few chapters.

Stricken by grief, Kalen "Dive" Brooks drifts away from his MC brethren, having room in his life only for his child. Worried for his son, he'll do anything necessary to protect him, even if it's admitting he needs help.

Alone and vulnerable, Philomena "Mena" McAdams has lost it all: her parents, her husband, her job, and her home. Living out of her car, she's learned life isn't worth regrets. When Mena takes the job of nanny and housekeeper for Dive, she doesn't know what she's getting into, but neither does Dive.

Can they learn to love again when things are so down and out?

Loved this so much

The first few chapters absolutely recked me. I can’t explain how much my heart bled for Dive in those heart wrenching moments. Especially the moment in the hospital between Dive and Pick. When I first realized Dive’s character was getting his own story all I could think was how much he was a player and how could he possibly be taken serious enough for his own story. But I have to admit this book was better than I anticipated. Taking me for an emotional rollercoaster. I went from thinking Dive was an immature play boy, to a love sick puppy, to a mourning douche, to groveling jerk and then finally to an adoring man. The other redeeming quality of Dive was how much he cherished his son Koda. This book doesn’t revolve around the Hawks MC which I wasn’t too upset about. I appreciated seeing the growth of Dive and allowing the readers to see him find himself again. Totally worth the five stars.

My favorite of series so far!

This third audiobook in this series was my favorite because of the characters. I felt really sorry for Dive when his tragedy struck. Then I really liked the heroine and how she tried to be independent and self- sufficient. Their romance is sweet and sexy, there is still the danger hanging over the whole club from the ex-biker who tried to buy Willow. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series when it comes out. The narration has become really good now that I have accustomed myself to the Aussie accents.

Dive’s sad and sweet story

Even with this starting out sadly, I was impressed with what a dedicated father Dive turned out to be. If he couldn’t end up with his first love, he at least ended up with a sweet woman. This story is mostly about Dive, with the MC coming in during the last third.
Evans and Casteri do a lovely job with that Aussie narration.

Heart warming....

Dive is a dad..He found out he was becoming a father the same day his boy was born and at the same time his ex dies. That is a lot for anyone to handle in the span of 12 hours but for a biker, it is astromonical. He is lost and floundering with these changes and his loss. He decides to leave his brothers and his security system to find a place where he can focus only on him and his son.

Mena is down on her luck..a death and loss of a job created the perfect storm for her life to turn upside down. When she gets a job as a nanny to a beautiful little guy, she finds her life looking up. Falling for the little guys father wasn't in the cards, but the heart wants what the heart wants.

This story was all about Dive and his transformation. It started so sad when he found out that Simone was not only pregnant and dying bit that he had a son..watching him grieve and the find a place to love again. The brothers and their wives were always around, but watching him and Mena grow through his grief, her secrets only to find their HEA was wonderful to see.
Mena was sweet and funny (that waxing scene will go down as one of my all time favorites)..and she was also a little freak. I loved it.

The ending set us up for my fav book of the series..Nary and Vicious...1, 2, 3....

Have to Give it 5 stars

Cuz I love it but I wish that Paul could play all of Dive an Tarny could play Mina. Not separate on their chapters. But its well written an these 2 read it so well.

Super good romance

As stated, this one is more about the man than the club, however, there was still a lot of action from club members. It was heartbreaking, sweet, sexy, and very hot. I think it’s my favorite one.

I have loved all the Hawks mc books both chapters

I love each of the bikers stories thus far. It's easier for me to listen to them and im excited to hear abt Nary and viscous story but can't seem to find on audiable which is weird being you can get a sneak peek at the end of this book, but I'll read it bc Lila Rose books are that good lol

love the story needs better narrator's

this series is really good and I love all the books I just wish we had better narrator's. the woman narrator is really slow in her speaking and she pauses when she really shouldn't. i had to move my speed up high to get into the story with the voice's. wish they could redo all these books with better voices. the males voice needs to be deeper stronger for biker dudes. but really love the story.

Exceptional romance

This was a romance, not many MC issues or moments. Two heartbroken people finding love or something even deeper is a beautiful thing. The narrators did a fine job.

Cra crazy all I can say crazy

I believe this just the starting in the story is like I want to like kill the female character can we say selfish. So selfish and then kind of over-the-top for the male character
