Deeply Moving.

What made the experience of listening to Dawn's Awakening the most enjoyable?

This is one of Lora Leigh's best yet. I had hoped Dawn's story would be worth the wait and it didn't disappoint. Once I got started, I couldn't stop till it was over.
It is a story of survival, hope and faith. This is a deeply moving story of horrible child abuse and the emotional scars that come with it. It tells of the effect it has on her family, friends and ultimately the man that loves her. Dawn's story will break your heart, then make you rejoice with her when she overcomes her devasting past and finds happiness.

Disappointing

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I really expected more from Dawn's story. It may be the weakest link in the whole series after Bengal's Heart, maybe followed closely by Lion's Heat. I think new readers may find it more interesting, but not those who follow the series.

Has Dawn's Awakening turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, but when a good writer throws such a bad bone to readers, it is a real shame.

Would you be willing to try another one of Brianna Bronte’s performances?

Ms. Bronte must work on her characterization. She very nearly put me off Jonas and Cabal, and her Dawn and Cassa sound exactly the same.

What character would you cut from Dawn's Awakening?

It was not the characters so much as the unnecessary melodrama. Drama is fine, but melodrama - not so much. I think Ms Leigh ran out of good angles with this series, and if so, she should respect her own work enough to let it go.

Any additional comments?

I hadn't expected the story to drag so much, as Ms Leigh is in general capable of much better fiction than this. A shame she failed to deliver with the some of the most memorable characters - Dawn, Cabal and Jonas.

Unexpected Surprise

This is a hidden gem. I'm honestly stunned by how good this story turned out to be. Truth be told you don't expect great writing in this genre or truly compelling characters, Ms. Leigh serves up both here. No not every line is prize worthy but there are great turns of phrase thoughtful compelling moments of understandable turmoil and a nice exploration of how one views the evidence of a higher power in their life. Dawn's pain at the thought of losing her mate is palpable. Her suffering made her strong but her lack of faith in god she stopped praying too has left her isolated even among her kind. The foolish interference of the men in her life and the outrage at them for stealing choices that should only have been hers wrings true. Her innocence despite the nightmare she endured in the labs feel genuine too. Seth is the perfect fit for her gentle and loving despite having walked away from her years earlier in a foolish effort to protect from her past.

No this was not what I expected at all having read other books in this series and by Lora Leigh. It was better more soul stirring and sweeter at it's core than I'm accustomed to from her or the genre in general.

The narrator was the perfect voice for Dawn but made some awful voice choices for the male characters and should really avoid accents at all cost.

Uck

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

a better narrator and a better story.

What could Lora Leigh have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Write a better story?
Only half way thru and not sure I can stand to finish it.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Men's voices were down right painful.

Any additional comments?

Reviews were misleading for sure, not sure where all the 5 stars came from.

Favorite Breed

I recommend this book to all Lora Leigh fans. The issues the female breed had to overcome to accept the love of her mate would have destroyed many. The love exhibited by her mate even though they were apart was fascinating to see. Excellent book!!!

entertaining

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Maybe. I don't make very many recommendations, because books are a personal choice with specific likes and dislikes.

Which scene was your favorite?

Where Dawn found out that her mate was getting married to another.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed and could understand the emotional thread that ran through the storyline. I especially could relate to the need to move on with your life when rejected and wanting to keep a distance because you've gotten past something and you don't want to fall back to where you once were. I love when books bring out feelings in a reader. It makes the story that much more realistic.
