Publisher's Summary

New York Times and USA Today best-selling author S.E. Smith presents another adventure- and suspense-filled story to transport listeners out of this world.

River Knight was looking forward to a peaceful vacation in the mountains with her two best friends, Jo and Star, sisters of the heart. When she travels up into the mountains of North Carolina to the cabin Star has rented for them, she is shocked when she finds the two sisters being abducted. Following them, she discovers their abductors are anything but human.

Sneaking aboard the shuttle in an attempt to rescue them, she finds herself on an unplanned vacation to the stars. In a desperate attempt to save Jo and Star, River makes a deal with a group of other aliens who have also been captured: she'll release them if they promise to return the three girls to their home.

Torak Ja Kel Coradon, leader of the House of Kassis and next ruler of the Kassis galaxy, has other plans when he sees the blue-eyed warrior woman - he wants her for himself.

The three women are believed to be the prophesied warriors, sent to join forces to bring peace to the House of Kassis. Worlds collide when the male-dominated world meets three circus performers who use their talents to fight for those they love. When an assassin threatens Torak's life, River has to show him even a circus performer can be a warrior when challenged. But the biggest challenge is to Torak's mind, as he discovers women from other galaxies are more than they seem.

Can their love overcome the chasm of a few million light years, or will an assassin end it all?

Very disappointed!

First off, I usually love S.E. Smith books. I really wanted to like this book but the male character took alpha male way to far. He was too bossy and controlling. If someone locked me in my room for a few days I would not stay with them, no matter the circumstances. I hoped that the alpha male would eventually change into a more likeable character but he never did.
Also, this book was like alien romance meets fifty shades of gray. I probably would have enjoyed it more if the hero wasn’t such an a-hole.

I cant get this time back

For starters, this was the dumbest book that I've listened to so far. Ms Smith might be a good author but this wouldn't be an example of that. It was like a 10th grader wrote it, a very precocious 10th grader. It would have been a 1 star for sure if it wasn't for the naughty bits. Honestly, I was listening while waiting for a flight in the gate area of my local airport, surrounded by the good people of Michigan. The narrator began reading the first sex scene and it made me giggle and blush! Ms Smith has quite an imagination! The narrator has a pleasant voice but was a bit monotone. I think some of the racier scenes could have used a little more emotion.Well, anyhow, I was able to make it to the end but I don't think I will listen to the next one.

A great Alien Abduction love story

River was so awesome as a warrior woman . Listening to her take out the aliens who abducted her friends was so cool ! I laughed at some of the ways she was able to out think them . When she killed the first alien was priceless . The author was able to capture my attention from the very beginning and held it till the very end . Only one thing would have been better is if the story had been longer but I expect that the next book in the series will give me more insight! If you like a sexy tell of alien love then this book is for you . The intrigue is worth buying this audiobook .

It was ok

I like S E Smiths stories.
This one was like the others with exception of the narrator. The men sounded weak. The girls all the same.

I liked listening to this narrator

I liked listening to this narrator.
Another winning book from S E Smith. If you enjoy cute funny sci-fi than you will enjoy this author.
River, Star and Jo grew up together in the circus. Jo and Star are sisters and they left the circus a few years ago. River remained doing a knife throwing act that she had been taught be her parents before they died. She is now on a three month vacation and plans to visit the other two in a !ountain cabin. But when she gets there she sees them being kidnapped by aliens and follows. She spends weeks in the ventilation shaft getting to know the ship they are on and visiting the cell the other two are inhabiting. She confiscated weapons and anything helpful during her explorations.
Torak and his men including a peace delegate were taken by the same aliens. The delegate was killed immediately. The aliens tied up him and his men including his two brothers. They planned on killing Torak and his men.
River overheard them and saved the whole delegation for a promise of them to help them get home. Torak realizes that she is his mate.
There is quite a bit of intrigue due to a traitor and the fact that the girls use their circus skills amidst the battles. Oh yeah, and there is a prophecy about three warrior women.

Fluff

Fun if you want fluff, but don't expect a deep plot. characters are a bit too stereotypical and lack true development. Overall plot is basic and very predictable.

I read the book first and was excited to hear it!

Loved the book and getting to listen to it too! Samantha did almost as good of a job reading it out loud as the voice in my head did when I read it!

Who knew?

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I have no idea

What could S.E. Smith have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I really like a lot of her books, but this one was too much. Who knew all the way across the galaxy, aliens used butt plugs, nipple clamps, and floggers? Oh my goodness! I was yelling about how stupid that was. The story had some promise, but was ruined by the monotone, non emotional, narration; and the BDSM ridiculousness.

What didn’t you like about Samantha Cook’s performance?

Very bad! There was no appropriate emotion in her voice. Like I said, they could have hired Ben Stein doing his monotone voice.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Frustration.

Any additional comments?

I would like to know more of the story, but never will order an audio of these books again. That way I can skip all the stupid stuff and stick to the plot. I wanted to see how this series may tie into some of the other ones S.E. Smith has written. Should have listened to the other reviews.

Read like novice author..weak story

This is it supposed to be a romantic with a sci-fi or alien. Not sure I understand then why it sounds so earthly.
The writing is very immature. There's no Dev and the story it sounds like a store that could've taken place on earth all of the vocabulary is the same or similar to English. The women didn't even have to acclimate themselves to a different atmosphere environment. The sole purpose of this book with about sex and Romance which is fine but I don't try to tie it all up as paranormal

reader has no emotion at all.

the reader's reading is so emotionless that even the hot scenes seem boring. the characters are not convincing enough. they barely have any back stories. the alliance men are too just like regular human men from the 1300s. and the BDSM sex is really forced... not sexy, not hot, not even convincing.

Thoroughly enjoyable read and even better to hear!

Would you consider the audio edition of River's Run to be better than the print version?

You can't compare I loved them both very much.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved River's character. A smart and capable women who rescues the men ... lol. Definitely one of the best female leads created.

What does Samantha Cook bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Samantha's interpretation of the book was truly inspiring she brought the book to life and gave it just a little more realism.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When they describe how River's parents died and how it affected her. Brought a tear to my eye.

Any additional comments?

I love S.E. Smiths books she's one of my favorite authors and I can't get enough reading material. So far I've read everything to date and she's yet to let me down. I have no hesitation recommending her as an author, you'll enjoy her books.

I have to listen to this at 1.25 speed.

I have to listen to this at 1.25 speed or it seems to be dragging.
I just love this series and love listening whilst doing housework or driving.
BOOK REVIEW
Read this book you will not be disappointed. You will be rushing to get the others in this series.
Three women who can kick butt and laugh about it have just made my day. Loved their upbringing.
I loved River, Star and Jo and this book was one of the best reads I have had in ages.
So much happens I cannot tell you in a review as it goes in many directions.
Whilst this book focuses on River and Torak we have the others all weaving through it.
If you like amazing capable women kicking alien butt and finding their HEA's with hot hunky alien shifters whilst fighting a background battle this book is for you.
This book ties in with Ms Smith’s alien world.
