Story
These 1028 poems, grouped as 10 ‘Circles’ (mandalas), have variously been called hymns, poems or songs by Sanskrit scholars. The Rik (so pronounced by the ancient Angirases clans, or Seer-Priest families) was an experiment with sound. The emphasis is always on sounding the words perfectly. The focus tends to be on the ideas rather than on the authors in Vedic literature, they are largely religious in nature, reflecting the world view and spiritual preoccupations of ancient India.

Story
On the surface, this is a biography of an accomplished seeker who mastered the practices of yoga and brought a system for understanding the mysteries of body, mind, and spirit to students in the West. But, like the life of Swami Rama, this audiobook offers more than a sequence of astonishing events. As you read the stories of authentic guru-disciple relationships Swami Rama had both with his master and with his own students, you will see how the spiritual wisdom is transmitted through generations. This book also serves as a guide to advanced practices of yoga and tantra not commonly understood in modern times.

Story
War is the most ancient and primitive way of dealing with conflict. According to yoga, stopping the cycle of war requires delving into the subtle causes underlying material desires and religious differences. These are selfishness, ego, greed, ethnocentrism, and sense of inferiority. Because of these attributes, we fail to do what we know is right, and persist in doing what we know is wrong. In the scriptures, this phenomenon is called killing the conscience. Drawing on the philosophy of yoga and other spiritual systems, Why We Fight: Practices for Lasting Peace offers practical tools for self-transformation.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

The book of Enoch was thought to be lost for over 2,000 years until, in 1773, a traveller brought three copies back from Ethiopia. Whether or not this ancient book was actually authored by Enoch, the father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah, is an ongoing debate among historians and theologians. But all recognise the book of Enoch as one of the most important apocalyptic works outside of the Bible.

It is the supreme authority in Islam and the living source of all Islamic teaching; it is a sacred text and a book of guidance that sets out the creed, rituals, ethics, and laws of the Islamic religion. It has been one of the most influential books in the history of literature. Recognized as the greatest literary masterpiece in Arabic, it has nevertheless remained difficult to understand in its English translations.

Simple and persuasive message
The Spirit of the Vedas message is so simple that humanity misses it. Once you listen to it everyone will agree with it, yet 99% of humans miss it and fail to act on it. This lecture reminds you of this basic message. It is forcefully presented. There is repetition but it seems deliberately designed to reemphasize certain parts of the message. It is recommended for those who would like to “wake up”. :-)

Best hour speech ever!
So many nuggets of wisdom and knowledge and such a short speech. Such a great overview that truly captures the spirit of The Vedas very concisely. Jam-packed of life-changing thoughts which if everyone followed, the world would truly be a better place!

Introduction to the Vedas for a Catholic
I bought this book as a (croatian) catholic priest candidate and theology student, seeking for a possible introduction to the vedic literature. The "lesson" is not a theological/scientifical introduction; it's more of a spiritual/practical intro. Nevertheless, I found it clear and very interesting for my first incounter with this world, exceptially as it seemed not to be "sectic", but really trying to tell something about the vedism… I gave the four stars to the content only because I could not accept from my christian/theological point of view some considerations of christianity, but that is fully understandable, since the autor is not a christian (theologian).
