    Yes, with excruciating strain.

    How did the narrator detract from the book?

    Why is stilted defined as self-conscious? This narrator seems not to know he's terrible.<br/>Why is he employed as a narrator? Does he do it gratis? It's almost painful.

    It can't be mentioned enough, this narrator is terrible. Why? ... makes me long for an automated narrator.
