Publisher's summary

This wondrous tale of cosmic adventure immerses the listener in a world of heroes, gods, and demons. It tells the story of the Lord Rama, the 7th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. At about 50,000 lines the original Ramayana is one of the largest epic poems in history - as well as one of the world's most important literary and spiritual masterpieces. This translation by William Buck makes the ancient text accessible to the modern Western world, while preserving the richness of the original.

Superb performance by Baba Raam Daas! (may he rest in Tranquility) A stunning, life-changing audio book. Let its wisdom be metabolized in the fire of your awareness. Let its vibrations nourish the very atoms of your being. Grok this book, let it in you, and thereby EXPELL ALL UN-LIVING MYTHS RESIDING WITHIN YOU AND FEEDING UPON YOUR VERY LIFE-BLOOD…NOW!!!

wish it was narrated a bit better

It's a great book, and I'm enjoying listening to it while i drive. however, i wish it was narrated a bit better. It's an Indian book, there is no need to sugar coat it when you're pronouncing it, for example, it's Dashrath, not DashrathA, and Laxman vs pronouncing it Laxamana, Ravan, not Ravaana and so on. I understand the audience for this book may be non-Indian people but there is no need to say it that way.
I am not suggesting to have some one with a thick accent read it, rather have someone with clear pronunciation narrate the book.

Brilliant performance of an excellent retelling

With this masterful and heart-opening performance, Ram Dass retells this ancient and profoundly beautiful tale of the Ramayana. I have tried to read translations of this text before, but have found them to be dry and montonous. William Buck retells the story magnificently as he breathes new life into it for the modern reader. I am grateful for having come across it.
