Predictable but enjoyable

I've heard a lot about Redwall over the years through social media, and finally read it.
It's a very special book for sure.
Has that atemporal feel of the classic tales and fables, and it's a bit darker than I expected for a YA book about forest critters, but I liked it very much.
The story is a bit predictable and I had problems imagining the sizes of the animals and their world. Sometimes it sounded like everything was human size, other times they were bigger than the regular animals. It's for sure a me problem, but it was distracting.
The narrator does a great job with a decent voice range and has an interesting choice while the adder is around. Again, a bit distracting but enjoyable.
For YA I think is a fantastic book.

The narrator did a fantastic job bringing to life Redwall Abbey. I was transported back to 1996, when I first was introduced to Brian Jacques beautiful world of mice, badgers, rats, weasels and ferrets, owls otters, shrews, hares and foxes...It was purely by chance that I picked up the Redwall book at my school library, and let me tell you...

it was the stepping stone into an amazing new world and I couldn't put down the series since then. now more than 20 years later, I stand in my kitchen, with a tear or two in my eyes as the book comes to a close...as I bid farewell to the brave young mouse, but look forward to the next chapter in Brian Jacques Saga...

absolutely get this book. it's a must have in your fantasy world collection.
