Publisher's summary

A Lumineth Realm-Lords novel.

When disaster strikes their mountain home, a trio of Alarith Stoneguard must gather a band of heroes to stop vile Slaaneshi Hedonites from devastating the entire realm.

Listen to it because: discover the Lumineth Realm-lords and explore the lands of Hysh in a desperate quest to stop a cataclysm from unfolding.

The story: a single, harrowing trial stands between supplicant Ferendir and a life of loyal service to his Alarith temple. But on the day of the young aelf’s final initiation, a Slaaneshi warhost descends upon his mountain home, leaving slaughter and destruction in their wake and stealing a long-hidden Lumineth treasure of terrible power. His world now torn asunder, Ferendir and his stalwart masters, Serath and Desriel, are forced to navigate a realm at war to stop the depraved warriors of the Dark Prince. The three Alarith Stoneguard must gather a band of Lumineth champions and embark upon a perilous quest. Failure is inconceivable, for the Hedonites seek to awaken an ancient and cataclysmic weapon, one with the power to bring Hysh to its knees.

Awesome!

Just got done with the Realm-Lords audiobook. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Dale Lucas has a more drawn out and dramatic approach, so it’s a long listen. But I found that his slow-burn approach fleshed out the three main characters very well. No spoilers, but the end chapters almost brought tears to my eyes because I got to know all three so well.

Their cohorts and the larger Lumineth army that showed up in chapters 3-4 gave a really good feel for how the Lumineth think, behave, and fight - and it’s awesome.

As an Iliatha player I was particularly happy with how the twin sisters, a Sentinel and a Warden, added to the story.

I especially liked that the story was told from the viewpoint of the Alarith, which are different from the more “High Elfish” Vanari.

To top of off, I’m becoming a huge fan of Richard Reed who narrated the audiobook. He put so much feel and character into each role. It was an excellent performance.

All in all, an excellent listen!

Boring. Nothing to see here folks

What a waste of a good possible story. Elves are godlike unchallenged characters. Terribly uninteresting.

A good listen for the road

Written for a game of plastic war dolls, this is a well crafted if predictable story. It isn't novel, but it is well told. Even as a grown man I sense this tale has helped me in its own way in my personal development. It's a far cry from the swashbuckling prose of Bill King, but it is indelibly Warhammer. Richard Reed balances several voices and personas effortlessly, has a dynamic cadence and seemingly had fun with some of the characters.

I enjoyed it overall! Solid AOS title

Never been a fan of High Elves of the old world, so picked this up with low expectations but it was good! Enjoyed the character development, dynamics and lore. Really solid entry into the AOS library, and good enough to make me want to know more about the lumineth.

Amazing performance

Great story, wonderful characters, excellent pacing. This has it all, but I feel the performance is truly what makes this book special.

Better than I couldve imagined

I came into this book hesitant, as I am a Lumineth Player and feared that the book wouldn't be good, and that I would find myself liking the Lumineth less. I didnt expect anything of it but in turn I was given more than I couldve wished for.

It exceeded my best hopes for it and grew my love of the lumineth, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it as it is one of if not my favorite AoS books out right now, and I'm not just saying that as a Lumineth player, it is genuinely a very entertaining and very good book.

Better than expected!

Deeper character development and progression than I expected. Would be a good story in any setting, but benefits from the richness of Warhammer.

So meh

Took me a while to finish this one. I had to keep coming back to it since it was so dry. The protagonists are pretty boring and they don't pull many tricks with the story. Then ending was good and the villain was okay, that's about it.

Realm-Lords

Narration, bad. No good, no good, no good, bad, bad, just badly preformed so sad.

Good book to introduce the Realm-Lords.

Narrator was good, the voices acting wasn’t distracting and were mostly very fitting.
Story has a few somewhat predictable beats but the character are interesting and it keeps you entertained.
Overall very solid listen, most people won’t be disappointed.

Great read get it if you like AoS novels

First time listening to Lucas's works. and it was an enjoyable ride gave in depth and succinct world building whilst not losing sight of the over arching plot and story

Alright

So the action scenes were epic and cool, the downside of a book about a new faction in a younger setting like the Lumineth realm lords in Age of Sigmar is that we have giant plot dumps. This is definitely the case around the middle of the book and felt very unnatural with characters making long exposition after a big epic battle.

Really Enjoyable

Great story with a full arc and well performed. Really good balance of themes with interesting characters explored in depth. Good insight into the Lumineth but also an interesting angle on the world of AoS.

It was fine

This was my first delve into anything AoS for the most part I have enjoyed all the HH and Siege of Terra books.

I enjoyed the setting, the back story and the additional insight to the Alarith ways but the performance and circular nature of the story left a lot to be desired, the chaos writing for the most part is what held this back. Average and rather typical depictions of the warband.
If you really like Lumineth it is a nice addition to the battletomes but not groundbreaking.

A little flat

Not offensively bad or painful, but most of the pacing is a little awkward and the enemy present basically no threat.
Overall can’t recommend but don’t regret.

stone guard are actually very cool

This is a good book to get into lumineth as a race and range but also has alot of slaanesh thrown in.

the story focuses on the stone guard although all lumineth are represented at some point , it does a good job of explaining how they work and the relationship they have with the mountain. but why cows gw? just why cows?

the characters are a little OP in the classic fantasy styling but given how elite they are and they aren't invulnerable, so it doesn't spoil the story.

the slaanesh mortals are very well described. whilst lacking any of the new mortals released it does describe hulking slaanesh monsters, colours and clothing in a very great way, especially as source material. even had a cultist with 4 arms because he liked punching so much he was blessed with more arms to punch. also gives a good idea of the broad range of Slaanesh, invaders, seekers and pretenders.

a good book but not great, still worth a listen.

Entertaining & worth the insight.

kept me entertained throughout. It gave me a feel for the Aelves in aos and the realm of Hyish. I recommend for those interested in these aspects of the world .. good but not great.

Wonderful!

A beautiful story with plenty of twists and turns and fantastic character development, particularly of the main protagonist. I only hope some of these characters can get their own model some day. Fantastic narration by Richard Reed, did the story a great service.
