THE STORY

Moonhallow harbours a dreadful secret, and it keeps the populace in a perpetual state of anxiety – not that the town's ruthless arbiter is prepared to do anything about it.

Across the great forest to Moonhallow's east, Galen and Doralia Ven Denst return from a gruelling mission for the Order of Azyr, seeking shelter in the mysterious Temple of Silence. However, the two witch hunters won't get much in the way of a warm welcome from the strange priests that reside there as the temple has its own secret, the ramifications of which are inextricably tied to the fate of Moonhallow. When night falls, terrors whose truths are too dangerous to speak come from the trees.

A great follow up if you love the Ven Denst

Loved the audio effects. Great performance and a solid entry into the AOS line up. Can’t wait for the next one.

Gripping, left me wanting more.

I was "on the edge of my seat" the entire time. I definitely want more of Galen and Doralia Van Denst adventures.

Best Heroes in AoS

It takes a long time to get as good a lore foundation as fantasy had or 40k maintains. To me the ongoing 'boots on the ground ' series of Gotrek, Gothghul Hollow, the 8 Lamentations, etc are what is going to really produce a grounding point for enriching lore in the setting that has finally come into its own.

The Ven Densts provide a legacy that follows this trend. They could lead anywhere in the evolving setting as they reference the larger developments in finer focused stories.

Worth it

The story kept me wanting to listen to more and had a great pacing. I enjoyed the ven denst family once again and hope for more releases centered on them. Narration was fine.

It's fine

It's not bad. I just didn't find it as interesting as Hallowed Ground, and the conflict felt kind of flat and/or generic

Spoiler warnings ahead.

The terror hinted at or the mysterious threat the description mentions as just a vampire. The story is just about a town leader who made a deal with a vampire to keep the town safe in exchange for human sacrifice. The conspiracy aspect is that everyone but the Van densts knows that and no one will admit it.

That in and of itself was kind of boring but that isn't actually what the story is about. What it actually is, is Doralia pondering the nature of forgiveness in sigmar's domains & Galen having lost motivation after the events of "Hallowed Ground". The whole vampire plot is just a vehicle for them to work those issues out. So it feels more like this book is a side note to a larger narrative drawn out into a full book.

Also I saw another review mention sound effects. The only Instance of that is when the one vampire speaks. and nowhere else.
