One out of three women alive today, and one out of two men, will face a cancer diagnosis, according to the World Health Organization. Ty Bollinger takes this personally: in the course of a decade, he says, "I lost my entire family to cancer. I don't believe I had to lose them." The Truth about Cancer has been written for one simple reason: to share the knowledge we need to protect ourselves, treat ourselves, and in some cases save our lives or the lives of those we love.

Using cases of spontaneous healing, Dr. Rankin shows how thoughts, feelings, and beliefs can alter the body’s physiology. She lays out the data proving that loneliness, pessimism, depression, fear, and anxiety damage the body, while intimate relationships, gratitude, meditation, sex, and authentic self-expression flip on the body’s self-healing processes.

In Cancer and the New Biology of Water, Thomas Cowan argues that this failure was inevitable because the oncogene theory is incorrect or at least incomplete and based on a flawed concept of biology in which DNA controls our cellular function and therefore our health. Instead, Dr. Cowan tells us the somatic mutations seen in cancer cells are the result of a cellular deterioration that has little to do with oncogenes, DNA, or even the nucleus.

Publisher's Summary
A groundbreaking and inspiring book that provides the nine keys that can lead to a spontaneous remission from cancer - even after conventional medicine has failed.
Early in her career, Kelly Turner, PhD, a researcher, lecturer, and counselor in Integrative Oncology, was shocked to discover that no one was studying episodes of radical remission, when people recover against all odds without the help of conventional medicine, or after conventional medicine has failed. She was so fascinated by this kind of remission that she spent eight years travelling through 10 countries to learn what factors that people experiencing this phenomenon encountered. Her evidence presents nine factors that she believes can help even terminal patients turn their lives around. They are:
- Radically changing your diet
- Deepening your spiritual connection
- Increasing positive emotions
- Releasing suppressed emotions
- Taking herbs and vitamins
- Using intuition to help inform health decisions
- Taking control of one’s health
- Having strong reasons to live
- Receiving social support
Every chapter of Radical Remission includes a dramatic story of one person’s journey back to wellness. The insight that the possibilities for healing are more abundant than we had previously known will give people concrete ways to defy the prognoisis of terminal cancer. It chronicles people from all walks of life, and from all over the world. This is a book for those who are in the midst of receiving conventional cancer treatment, who are looking for other options because that treatment has done all that it can, but who still have hope.

Caution. This book is misleading.
Dr. Kelly A. Turner has a PhD in oncological social work. She is not a cancer researcher. She is in educated in how to counsel people with cancer and their loved ones. She is not qualified in anyway to recommend therapies. Her ignorance becomes obvious when she describes how healthy and cancer cells use sugar, how the immune system functions, and the basic cellular biology of cancer. Dr. Turner sprinkles disclaimers throughout her book, which you should take very seriously. Spontaneous remissions (shrinking of tumors without treatment) does happen but rarely. And, there is no evidence that alternative healing has any success above chance, see https://www.cancer.gov/news-events/cancer-currents-blog/2017/alternative-medicine-cancer-survival In fact some of the healers described in her book are little more than dangerous cult leaders. John of God, who she spends a great deal of time describing is a convicted rapist. Dr. turner acknowledges that he is a rapist, yet praises his healing powers because other powers work through him. How absurd and dangerous. There are many other books to read that focus on the importance of diet, exercise and state of mind to improve your chances of not getting cancer and, if you have cancer, improve your chances of survival.

Good Suggestions for Anyone
This book was not the least bit misleading as another reviewer claimed. It did not promise cure at any point, but offered much needed hope. The common sense advice offered in this book can enhance anyone’s life. The telling of experience is affirming for the survivors, people the medical community generally pays little attention to. It was an interesting, positive “read”. At the very least, it can improve the remainder of someone’s life. At best, it may improve and extend someone’s life.

What if this could lead you to healing?
When my dad was dying several years ago I often wondered what if he had more knowledge than the doctors where providing him? What if he had a stronger desire to live? What if had gotten therapy for his mental health struggles? What if he would have accepted a clean eating diet? What if he had made restitution with those that he abused? What if he had been open to anything other than death? The only problem with this knowledge is that the reader has to be open to a different what if? My brother and nephew would benefit so deeply but they won’t even look at it at this time. Like the staff of Moses, for heavens sake just look, have a little faith and heal!

Provides much food for thought
Fascinating collection of stories of cancer patients who not only outlived their oncologists' predictions but also thrived. I find it dissappointing that there still isn't more research into these cases of "spontaneous remission" as doctors like to call it. This books sets out to prove that there's nothing spontaneous about them. Colour me convinced. Furthermore, this book is not just for people dealing with cancer. It really is for everyone looking to have a healthy lifestyle, eating real food, being in touch with nature and taking care of their mental well-being.

Potentially life-changing stories.
I much enjoyed listening to this book, which moves fast and remains interesting and engaging throughout.
Most people know someone affected by cancer, and the stories in this well researched book by Dr Turner provide stepping stones and clear tips for those wanting to make changes in their lifestyle to 'beat' the cancer.
The author reveals 9 Key Things common to the people who recovered - in several cases - from terminal, incurable cancers, often where conventional medicine ran out of options.
They range from the obvious (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery) to wider subjects like improved diets, which Dr Turner goes into specifics, to more 'left field' treatments including sound healing, reiki and such.
Most of the people experiencing these 'miracle recoveries' included in their personal treatment all 9 Key Things... which makes this information hugely valuable.
I strongly recommend it to anyone wishing to expand their knowledge of options when dealing with cancer.
