Acerca de esta escucha

Emie Mercer was one of several billion people who survived the apocalypse and was introduced to a new reality where magic was commonplace and everyone had access to a system. Unfortunately, the rest of Emie's family wasn't so lucky.

As far as world-changing events went, Earth's reintegration into the Atlantis Alliance was remarkably tame. The post-apocalyptic universe mirrored the wildly popular, deep-immersion VRMMORPG—Atlas Online, allowing those who played to quickly adapt to their new reality.

More than a decade later, Emie manages to create a formation that relies on her Time and Space affinities to return her consciousness to the past. When she arrives nearly four years earlier than expected, Emie realizes she has a unique opportunity to prepare and train for what is coming.

Join Emie as she explores the game Atlas Online in the way it was meant to be used—as a primer for the coming apocalypse.

I really enjoyed the book, but there were a few things I didn’t quite understand.

The MC uses time magic to restart her entire life from the moment she first encountered mana—when she was 17, several years before Earth’s full integration. With this, she gets a fresh start and is determined to do everything differently to ensure her family survives this time around.

So here’s where my mind starts to wander: if she’s supposed to be a master of time and space magic from the future, why does she come across as so clueless and amateurish with her skills? I mean, it’s refreshing not to have another overpowered protagonist, but given her origins, she should be OP. If she were pretending to be less skilled—like purposefully holding back during crafting tournaments or hiding her abilities—that would make sense. But she genuinely seems naive, which feels like a mismatch. She literally used a spell to reset time that was considered theoretical and unheard of, yet she doesn’t act like someone with that level of mastery or future knowledge.

Gripes aside, I did enjoy the story. The voice actress was great—took me a few chapters to adjust, but that’s pretty normal for me with a new narrator. Overall, I’m looking forward to the sequels!

Reset Button Hit—But Where’s the Power?
