Many moons have passed since Adicia left the Isle of Wisdom, but finally Garnrin - the ancient who warned of the towers’ impending destruction - has been found. With Athanasia’s children exhibiting strange new powers and the Mahtma’s influence growing, the tower Leaders need guidance - but Garnrin isn’t about to just give it away. When they finally return home, Adicia, Gara, and Tavis are followed by a cohort of centuries-old scholars who, in their younger days, proudly served the towers. These ancients are shocked by what they find: the towers they once knew are gone. In their place, self-proclaimed masters struggle with apprentice-level spells and corrupt elders bicker among themselves. Even the tower leaders are weak and ignorant of their true roles - and above all this chaos, the Mahatma bides her time. But Adicia will not stand idly by while her towers crumble. She knows time is running out: beyond the borders, the demon-worshippers of Tenebrosity grow restless, and their corruption may be even closer than it seems....

The reason I have rated the second book of the series lower than the first is mainly because of how reptitive this story is. While I understand that in real life things would have to be explained in full every time you go to a new set of people, but this repetition is usually best referenced to rather than completely repeating an argument or statement multiple times within a story. The performance itself is rated lower because of their being more characters present in the story and their needing to be more distinction between voices.

All that said, I am glad I listened to the story and how it progressed. With how this audiobook ends it leaves you satisfied rather than leaving you hanging as the previous book did.

Nice Continuation of the Story
