Publisher's summary

In a Regency England where magic and faeries are real...

Fitzwilliam Darcy is a powerful magician who controls fire, water, and wind. What he cannot control is his growing feelings for Miss Elizabeth Bennet.

Elizabeth's sentiments towards Darcy are quite different. She detests his arrogance, and she fears he will expose her use of forbidden magic - forbidden to women, that is. He is the last man in the world she would choose to help her on a difficult and dangerous task.

But when a magical war looms between the land of Faerie and their world, a Lord of Faerie demands that Darcy and Elizabeth serve together as his emissaries to make peace with the other mortals. That mission throws them into the middle of a chaotic power struggle between magicians whose power dwarfs their own, and everything Elizabeth has ever believed about her family, her friends, and her enemies will be called into question.

Good "read".

Enjoyable variation of the original. A sequel would be a welcome addition to the authors works.

Love this book

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to this book! Every time I notice something new, because there is so much detail poured into “Faire”.
I love the strong women, especially Anne de Berg’s character. The Fae people create a interesting element and keep the story moving. Also, gotta love Darcy & his angst!

Magically Enchanting

Simply marvelous! Mrs Reynolds' lyrical writing is kept me transfixed until the very last sentence. I truly loved it and hope there is a continuation to this storyline in more books.

This book can be classified as a few things, romance, historical fiction and fantasy. It can also be classified as JAFF. This would not be considered a re-telling perse. This story is more of a loose re-imagined interpretation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice mixed with some of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

As always Ms Elizabeth Klett is awe inspiring in her performance. She gives each character something that makes the work so compelling.

Magical JAFF

Lizzy has refused Darcy, and he anxious to win her heart, but a lot of other things are happening in this story.

The Fae relationships to characters we know, and new ones we meet, are a little confusing at first, so pay attention as that world starts to take hold in the story.

It is well written, not as overtly sexual as many of Ms. Reynolds books, but possibly still not appropriate for young readers. There is a lot of discussion of “adulterous past relationships”.

Ms. Klett does a wonderful job of voicing all characters, human, Fae and animals.

Wonderful world building and unbelievable plot!!!

Every time I thought the plot might be winding down, new things kept turning up. Some things were predictable, but most of the time there was so much happening unexpectedly that you just have to keep listening to find out what's coming!

Best AU Pride and Prejudice ever

This is by far my favorite variation. Elizabeth Klett as narrator is the icing on the cake.

Wasn't sure about this at first....

Generally I am not a fan of mythical (best word I could find) but I am a big fan of Abigail Reynolds so I gave it a go and I am glad I did. The story is very good, there was enough explanation of what is going on so I didn't feel like I was reading (listening) to something out of my element. Elizabeth Klett is an exceptional narrator, which just added the cherry on top of the cake!

Magical

Abigail Reynolds once again blows us all away.

Despite being set in a magical England with Sorcery and Witchcraft this story stays true to the heart of Jane Austen's writing. Our beloved characters are the same in basics, but changed just enough to make them fit like a glove into this story.

I liked how the romance was there to support the rest of the story, not the sole focus. There was mystery and drama and scandal! We saw a new side to Anne and Mrs. Bennet which I delighted in.

And as always Elizabeth Klett did a wonderful job in her narration. It was easy and enjoyable to listen too.

A wonderful reimagining!

I really enjoyed the blending of genres and the merging of worlds. The narrator was, as always, fantastic!
