Author doesn't know who the MC is

The basic plot is fine, the story flow and pacing are fine. The narrator's performance is fantastic. The main issue is that the main character is supposed to be a naive kid, but also is randomly world-wise and knows or understands things he shouldnt. There's no indication he's supposed to be any kind of genius. The same issue plagues his partner 'god' MC. He's wise but stupid, aloof but caring. There's no consistency in order to get to know the characters. Along with this, the author randomly reitorates seemingly minor details which were just explained a chapter or two ago at the most. The perspective and character believability are nill. I won't be listening to the next book, there are way better ones out there.

OKAY

A little clunky at times, still it is interesting enough that I will check out book 2.

Death Walks Amongst Us.

Bamboo writes a LitRpg world that seems almost normal in a medieval sort of way where individuals must find their way down a path of power to earn magic and prowess. In this world, we find the god of death in need of a vessel to right a wrong done to him. One of the things that I enjoyed about the story was that Bamboo never really nerfs the god of death allowing him to do what he was empowered to do. The story is a great adventure with quite a bit of heart and strong characters you can relate to.

Gilliland does a tremendous job narrating the story. He gives all of the characters a unique voice as well as going above and beyond in his acting in most of the scenes (in a good way).

If you like adventures that smack of LitRpg I can recommend this story to you.

Surprisingly good

This was better than expected. Some over the voices were annoying but the narrator wasn’t bad.

surprisingly good!

to be perfectly honest, I bought this book out of desperation. I am in the position of waiting for all the next books in my series to come out. turns out that the book was absolutely remarkable! it is not a light read, but a deep and satisfying novel. closest thing that comes to mind is the cradle series. if you've never heard of it, go read it. just went out and bought the second book, and can't wait to read it.

Interesting

It is honestly interesting. A thought provoking outlook on death and a MC that isn't annoying.
