Stormy Morgan left her hometown of Shadow Hills, Michigan, with one goal: To write the great American novel and strike it rich. Now, without a book contract, she’s back at her family restaurant in a one-stoplight town...and she’s convinced things couldn’t possibly get worse. That feeling only lasts until her first shift, when on a trip to the storage building behind the restaurant, she literally trips over a body. Stormy is a woman - or maybe a witch - lost in a sea of magic and despair...but murder might just lead her out of it.

When it rains, it pours...and sometimes love finds you even when you can’t find yourself. Fate has given me a second chance at the happiness I once knew in the odd Southern town of Grimm Cove. But only if I can come to terms with some rather eye-opening revelations. Supernaturals are a real thing. I'm a witch. When last we met, good people, the biggest wish I've ever made came to fruition. My outrageously handsome, smart, sometimes persnickety (read mostly persnickety) Spy Guy, Winterbottom, is finally here on earth with me, recuperating from his afterlife jaunt. Sure, he can be a difficult patient. Add in the fact that some of the spells I've cast to make this dream a reality have had repercussions (an understatement), and it's been sheer chaos. When my favorite men decide that I should take a day for myself, I hesitantly head out. And then I die. You can imagine, it only goes downhill....

Publisher's Summary
Every town has its secrets, but no one has a secret like hers.
Amber Blackwood, lifelong resident of Edgehill, Oregon, has earned a reputation for being a semi-reclusive odd duck. Her store, The Quirky Whisker, is full of curiosities. It has everything from extremely potent sleepy teas and ever-burning candles to kids’ toys that seem to run endlessly without the aid of batteries.
The people of Edgehill think of the Quirky Whisker as an integral part of their feline-obsessed town, but most give Amber herself a wide berth. Amber prefers it that way; it keeps her secret safe. But that secret is thrown into jeopardy when Amber’s friend Melanie is found dead, a vial of headache tonic from Amber’s store clutched in her hand.
Edgehill’s newest police chief has had it out for Amber since he arrived three years before. He can’t possibly know she’s a witch, but his suspicions about her odd store and even odder behavior have shot her to the top of his suspect list.
When the Edgehill rumor mill finds out Melanie was poisoned, it’s not only the police chief who looks at Amber differently. Determined to both find justice for her friend and to clear her own name, Amber must use her unique gifts to help track down Melanie’s real killer. A quest that threatens much more than her secret...

Pawsitively Poisonous
Amber Blackwood longtime resident of Edgehill, and owner and operator of The Quirky Whisker that sells a bit of a lot of things but it is her toys that has people perplexed, they move and do other things all seemingly without a battery. But when her friend dies with one of Amber's home remedies in her hand that is when things really heat up. This is the first of the series of cats and witches that will worm its way into your heart, as it did mine. This is a very cute story and wonderful mystery that has lots of suspense and action despite many thinking Edgehill is a sleepy little cat nap town. The narrator does a wonderful job transporting you right into Edgehill and the story I had a good time walking through The Quirky Whisker and looking at all of those wonderful toys that I wish were real. I really love this book and this series I hope the author keeps writing more.

Amber is a Psychic?
Amber tries to help her sick friend. Her friend dies and Amber searches for her murderer to clear her name and get justice for her friend. Amber is such a rich character she helps others and tries to stay under the radar of the police chief. This is a good mystery that gives you clues throughout the story and you are somehow surprised at the end of the story. I was given a free copy of this book at my request and this is my honest review.

A great start to what looks promising to be a fun mystery series. There wasn't too much magic involved. The story centred more on the characters rather than the magical which I prefer. The mystery was well thought out and it kept me guessing. I look forward to listening book 2. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy.

Great narration and enjoyable book
This is the first book I listen of this genre, and I really like it. The story is well written, and had me wondering and thinking who was the murderer. I was making and discarding theories as the story progressed. First time listening to Victoria Villareal, but I really loved her narration, she did a wonderful job with this story. She performed it pretty well, she has different voices for each of the characters which is so perfect, her tone and paced were really good. I will look forward more of her narrations for sure. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession 🎧

Amazing Mystery
Pawsitively Poisonous by Melissa Erin Jackson is book one in the A Witch of Edgehill Mystery series that I listened to on audio narrated by Victoria Villarreal. This is the first book of Melissa’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. This book kept me very intrigued until the very end. I cannot wait to listen to the next book in the series Pawsitively Cursed. Victoria did an amazing job on the narration. She really knows how to bring a story to life. This was such a fun mystery to listen to. I really liked the magical side to this and how she has to do it without anyone knowing what is going on. I was able to guess who the murderer was, but the way they found out was fun to listen to as it was happening. The narration in this book was done really well also. Pawsitively Perfect
I loved it, it was a mystery murder with a difference. as a mystery should it keeps you guessing and throws some false clues at you to keep you changing direction and she is a witch so a win win for me. Easy to listen to as it has a light feel to it not sinister. the detail Erin Jackson wove within the mystery, about the town and the characters really gave the whole story such visual characterisation, brought to life by the lovely narration of Victoria Villarreal. Cant wait to listen to the next one!

All types of characters in this enjoyable story.
To me this felt on the lighter side although it's not funny it's just not heavy. I enjoyed the setup and the way the characters all interact with each other. The complete cat focus of the town made me smile a lot. I like the way she hides her witch side and the things she does with her powers. The story follows along nicely and I didn't guess he culprit too far ahead of the reveal. Overall enjoyable. Victoria Villarreal does a good job with the narration.

Such intriguing magic
When Amber's friend is found dead, the local police chief puts her at the top of the suspect list. He's clearly always been suspicious of her though she never knew just how far back that mistrust stemmed from. Amber decides to do a bit of her own investigating and there are plenty of suspects in town. Such intriguing magic, I would love some of Amber's toys! I really liked that the magic wasn't perfect and infallible, it seemed so much more realistic this way. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Quirky mystery
Great listen... with the witchyness coming through at just the right places without being over the top. I liked the way the spells and potions was used to solve the mystery which makes me think it would be a eeal handy gift in real life too
