STEM-ulating Romance

I really enjoyed this book. It was a palate cleanser contemporary romance that was enjoyable from start to finish. Our FMC Tris is a BIPOC engineer at a firm that has nothing but overlooked her at every turn. Rafe, a nepo hire, gets all the perks and accolades that Tris should be getting and the two have an ongoing rivalry that is coming to a head. The firm decides to host a competition sending two people to Hawaii for a chance to win a coveted spot in the firms engineering hierarchy. Surprisingly, Tris gets selected (because why would she at this point) and so does Rafe. That’s when the fun truly begins.

This novel has some pretty witty banter, one bed at the inn troupe, great minor characters that become your instant besties, and secrets coming to light. It’s fast paced (sometimes at break neck speed) and cute. And much loved body positivity and female empowerment.

The audio was good to listen to as a supplement. The narrator was hilarious with her banter and it felt like a natural experience.

The narration was so incredible

This was an absolute masterpiece and I ate every inch of this up.
Rivals to lovers, one bed, forced proximity, work retreat in hawii, slow burn, its always been you, touch her and die, he falls first, and so much banter.

Trishara is hands down one of my new favorite FMC. Her strength and resilience and fuck it attitude made me fall inlove with her so fast. AND RAFE, my god I will be dreaming about him for the rest of my life.
This book had me kicking my feet giggling and smiling so hard my face hurt. I seriously could not put it down. I could probably say this is one of my new favorite romcoms, the magic that Nisha J. Tuli created in this book with some of the best tension and banter I have probably ever read.

What an adorable, swoony, real, adult (no communication crap), fantastic rom com book! The character seem so real and genuine the story adorable ☺️ and the emotions deep!

Was fine, but dragged on

I feel like if it was three chapters shorter it would’ve gotten four stars. The other thing that brought it down is the main characters kind of a wimp for the first 80% of the book, and the male lead tells her a couple times how much you respect her for being strong and smart, but then she talks about just phoning in at work and not really giving her all and not standing up for herself and she wimps out of everything. It just feels so disingenuous and she preens under the attention even though it’s obviously the opposite of every interaction that she’s had with anyone else in the whole book. It’s just clunky.

Chip on her shoulder!

The lead female role has a chip on her shoulder so big I bet her back hurts. I stuck it out til the end for the happy ending but I get sick of the playing victim/race card in real life so I don’t care to read about it in my comedy romance. It didn’t help her last name is a false god that people sacrificed their children to in the old days.

Nisha Tuli does it again

I adored this book. Nisha must be pretty funny in real life because this book made me laugh out loud several times! The narrator also helped, she did a FANTASTIC job, making the book even greater. The book is deep, it's emotional, it's funny, and had me swooning for the male lead. It's perfect, five stars from me.

This narrator blew this out of the water!! Great job! Amazing story!! The yearning and pining was delicious!

Witty Banter + Great Chemistry = A Fun Listen

I listened to Not Safe for Work and really enjoyed the experience! The narrator, Soneela Nankani, did such a great job bringing the characters to life. The banter and chemistry came through so naturally in audio, which made it even more fun to follow along.

The story itself is witty, modern, and super engaging. It has that perfect balance of humor, tension, and flirty moments that kept me hooked, and I found myself wanting to keep listening just to see how the dynamic between the characters unfolded.

It’s fast-paced and easy to sink into, the kind of audiobook you can get lost in during a commute or while doing chores. The only reason it’s not a full five stars for me is that there were a few places where I wanted just a little more depth, but overall it was such an enjoyable listen.

If you’re looking for something light, fun, and full of spark, the audiobook version is a fantastic way to experience this story!

Fantastic narration

An extremely fun rivals to lovers/workplace romance! The barriers the FMC faces in the workplace are (unfortunately) relatable. I wish we’d gotten to know more about who the FMC was outside of work, like we did with the MMC, but overall really enjoyed this! Narration was excellent.

Predictable

This is a book written in an exact format from a high school English class. It was bad.
