Publisher's Summary

The explosive new book from Dinesh D'Souza, author of the New York Times best sellers Hillary's America, America, and Obama's America.

What is "the big lie" of the Democratic Party? That conservatives - and President Donald Trump in particular - are fascists. Nazis, even. In a typical comment, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow says the Trump era is reminiscent of "what it was like when Hitler first became chancellor".

But in fact this audacious lie is a complete inversion of the truth. Yes, there is a fascist threat in America - but that threat is from the Left and the Democratic Party. The Democratic Left has an ideology virtually identical with fascism and routinely borrows tactics of intimidation and political terror from the Nazi Brownshirts.

To cover up their insidious fascist agenda, Democrats loudly accuse President Trump and other Republicans of being Nazis - an obvious lie, considering the GOP has been fighting the Democrats over slavery, genocide, racism, and fascism from the beginning.

Now, finally, Dinesh D'Souza explodes the Left's big lie. He expertly exonerates President Trump and his supporters, then uncovers the Democratic Left's long, cozy relationship with Nazism: how the racist and genocidal acts of early Democrats inspired Adolf Hitler's campaign of death; how fascist philosophers influenced the great 20th century lions of the American Left; and how today's anti-free speech, anti-capitalist, anti-religious liberty, pro-violence Democratic Party is a frightening simulacrum of the Nazi Party. Hitler coined the term "the big lie" to describe a lie that "the great masses of the people" will fall for precisely because of how bold and monstrous the lie is. In The Big Lie, D'Souza shows that the Democratic Left's orchestrated campaign to paint President Trump and conservatives as Nazis to cover up its own fascism is, in fact, the biggest lie of all.

The Fascist Left In America

This is an incredible, poignant read. It moves effortlessly from historical precedence to the fascist beast that exists today not in the halls of conservatism but in the warp and woof of the American Left and its progressive movement. This book is not theoretical in nature. It is not a thesis or theory of the Nazi and Fascist connections to the American Left's progressive movement. It is a heavily documented and factual treatise of a historical movement that was created by the American Left and utilized as a basis for the developing Nazi and Fascist ideologies. The work is full of verifiable facts, not lucid conjectures.

The contradictions and methodology of the Left are laid bare in the light for all to see. It thoroughly explains why the Fascist Left point their fingers at conservatives and scream, "Fascist!" The "Brown Shirt," "Black Shirt" thuggery of the American Left's progressive movement is a staple of Nazi and Fascist ideology and the inaction of the political Left to stop these intimidation methods is the proof one needs to identify the true Fascist in American politics and government.

Awesome audiobook

Dinesh’s best yet. So well researched, air tight. I don’t agree with all of his conclusions. In particular the conclusions reached about slavery, some of the points reached by Thomas Sowell in “Black Rednecks & White Liberals” I found more convincing and in conflict with Dinesh’s. But this is small beer. Overall brilliant.

Informational gold mine

The most informative book I ever read about socialism and their derivatives. If you'd like to know anything about bot Socialism, National Socialism, Fascism, Communism and the DNC this is a book for you. One interesting thing I read was that Hitler loved to read Karl May fiction stories where he got some ideas.

Great book for historical information.

The authot does a great job of researching his subjects and giving specific examples. Background information is very thoroughly covered as well as current information. The progressive movement is an evil movement that will stop at nothing to obtain absolute power over America. Recognition of the tactics is vital to stopping this takeover.

Full details of the incredibly clever lies the left tells to dupe their victims into supporting the very people who are destroying their lives.

Informative

There is so much history that needs to be taught to Americans! I love how he starts at the root of the problems and how and who they evolved through! He makes understanding the left so much better!

Good but not his best.

Exposing the Nazi roots of the American Left is a worthy task. Jonah Goldberg already covered much of this ground in his book, "Liberal Fascism."

While I like D'Souza very much and admire his courage, this book did not quire reach its goal. Worth reading but I recommend it be read in conjunction with Goldberg's and with many of the writings of David Horowitz, especially "Unholy Alliance."

Somewhat convincing

The author tries to link totalitarianism to the democratic party. He spends too much time going over the history of world war two era Europe. I found however, much of the comparisons between Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy to The ideology of president Roosevelt quite interesting.

Collectivism Never Dies!

Dinesh D'Souza's book is one of many that continue to document this fact: that collectivism just "shape shifts" from one generation to the next. As soon as "communism" fell out of favor, they just changed their name.. "Social Justice", "Liberation Theology", "Progressiveness", "Cultural Marxism".. they are all one in the same. The end state is one in the same: use the good will, and the good nature, of human beings, to get the government to legally steal from someone and give it to another.
The more this issue is given serious study, the more this immovable, unchangeable fact becomes more evident as the years go by.
- As the progressive thugs destroy our streets, attack Trump supporters.
- As the media continues to "double down" on their worldview, to the point of absurdity now (This review was written in Feb 2018, as the mainstream media literally supports North Korean terror, just to get in a jab at Trump).
- As people in the scientific community try to get the Center for Disease and Control (CDC) to view "gun violence" as a disease..
- The political Left in this country.. has never, ever changed.
From the times of Robespierre, Jean Jacques Rousseau and the Marquis De Sade, the left continues to push an agenda of hedonism, envy, class hatred, victimization, and division.. all wrapped up in a sickly sweet packaging called "Social Justice" and all the other buzzwords that the old Commissars of the Soviet Union would be proud of.

Excellent insight into the Left and their lies

A well researched dive into the morally bankrupt ideology of the Left.

This is a call to arms to stand up against the lies and deception of the Left and their thuggish tactics.

A must ‘listen’

A wonderfully narrated book. Full of surprises and evidence that show how the left have, and continues to use clever tactics and sleight of hand to hide their racist and violent deeds. The left wield the iron hand (in a silk glove) and this is the wake up call to action

Excellent counter narrative

This book examines many of the issues people have with modern progressives but may be unable to articulate. The pervasive shutting down of all voices that are not in agreement with whatever we are told is the 'correct' view is wrong. Any moderate or centrist needs a dose of counter narrative to balance the modern media message. D'Souza provides it.

Political roots exposed

Very interesting concept, to actually look at the policy breakdown rather than the emotionally charged rhetoric is refreshing. My first book by this author and found it a little self gratifying at times but past that its what seems to be a well researched and source based read.

Back bone and truth.

I have said for along time that the Nazi's and the Fascists by definition and by action must be left wing to offten an abusive reply. It is good to finally find such a comprehensive break down of this fact. A must read for anyone on either the left or the right.

like a stake to the heart

This is an important book for people to read regardless of their political leanings. Like previous books by D'Souza, there are hits and misses, but where he hits he hits hard. I feel the misses are an inevitable side effect of the writer's thinking style: his strengths are that he sees links between things that are usually not noticed by others, and that he has the tough-mindedness to spell out these logical trains of thought in an articulate and dramatic way. The result is often productive creativity, but when he misses it is by a mile. The biggest miss here I think in this the link drawn between abortion and Nazi science, which I think even charitable readers from the centre or left will find unconvincing at best. Such aspects can be distracting from the more important themes. The biggest hit of the book, in my opinion, is that the essential characteristics of National Socialism and fascism are actually the same as those found in communist/socialist ideology more generally. This point is made well and buttressed by a detailed discussion of these movements intellectual histories and helps highlight the essentially fascistic tactics used/endorsed by the likes of antifa and much of the ideological intelligentsia.
